ABSTRACT THE DIFFERENCES IN USE AND CARE OF LONG-LASTING INSECTICIDAL NETS IN MALARIA AND NON MALARIA PATIENTS AT HANURA PUBLIC HEALTH WORKING AREA SUBDISTRICT PESAWARAN REGENCY By ADELLIA RISDA SATIVA Background: Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium sp. which belongs to the protozoa group. The disease is transmitted by the bite of female Anopheles mosquito that contain Plasmodium sp. Malaria is a public health problem that can cause anemia, acute kidney failure, pulmonary edema, jaundice and cerebral malaria. Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) is an effective way to reduce malaria transmission. The use and care of LLINs properly can prevent transmission of malaria because the LLINs used can function effectively. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the behavior of the use and care of long lasting insecticidal nets in malaria and non-malaria patients at hanura public health working area subdistrict pesawaran regency. Method: This study is an analytic observational study with cross-sectional survey approachment using questionairs as the instrument of the study. The number of subjects in this study are 41 malaria patients and 41 non malaria patients. The statistical analysis used is Chi Square Test. Results: Malaria patients who have good behavioral use and care of LLINs are 31.7% while in non-malaria patients are 63.4%. The p value of bivariate analysis is 0,008. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the behavioral use and care of LLINs in malaria patients and non malaria patients. Keywords: Behaviour, Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets, Malaria

Background: Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium sp. which

belongs to the protozoa group. The disease is transmitted by the bite of female

Anopheles mosquito that contain Plasmodium sp. Malaria is a public health

problem that can cause anemia, acute kidney failure, pulmonary edema, jaundice

and cerebral malaria. Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) is an effective way to

reduce malaria transmission. The use and care of LLINs properly can prevent

transmission of malaria because the LLINs used can function effectively. The

purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the behavior of the use

and care of long lasting insecticidal nets in malaria and non-malaria patients at

hanura public health working area subdistrict pesawaran regency.

Method: This study is an analytic observational study with cross-sectional survey

approachment using questionairs as the instrument of the study. The number of

subjects in this study are 41 malaria patients and 41 non malaria patients. The

statistical analysis used is Chi Square Test.
