ABSTRACT FORMULATION OF MANNITOL BASED GREEN TEA EXTRACT LOZENGES (The Influence of Polivinilpirolidon K-30 Concentration on Physical Tablet Performance) The objective of this study was determining the effect of PVP K-30 concentration as tablet binder on physical performance of Green Tea Extrac Lozenges. The Lozenges were prepared by wet granulation method wit difference concentration of PVP K-30 (1%, 3% and 5%). The granules were compressed with hydraulic press at 1 ton pressure. Physical quality test of green te extract lozenges had been evaluated, including hardness, friability and dissolving time. From statistical analysis, there were significant different among the formulas the hardness, friability and dissolving time. The results showed that hardness and dissolving time of green tea extract lozenges were enhanced by increasing PVP K-30 concentration and the friability was reduced by increasing PVP K-30 concentration. From this observation, it could be concluded that mannitol based green extract lozenges with 1% concentration of PVP K-30 was the optimum formula. Keywords: physical performance, green tea extract, mannitol, PVP K-30 binder, lozenges, wet granulation.

FORMULATION OF MANNITOL BASED GREEN TEAEXTRACT LOZENGES

(The Influence of Polivinilpirolidon K-30 Concentration on Physical TabletPerformance)

The objective of this study was determining the effect of PVP K-30concentration as tablet binder on physical performance of Green Tea ExtractLozenges. The Lozenges were prepared by wet granulation method withdifference concentration of PVP K-30 (1%, 3% and 5%). The granules werecompressed with hydraulic press at 1 ton pressure. Physical quality test of green teaextract lozenges had been evaluated, including hardness, friability and dissolvingtime. From statistical analysis, there were significant different among the formulas forthe hardness, friability and dissolving time. The results showed that hardness anddissolving time of green tea extract lozenges were enhanced by increasing PVP K-30concentration and the friability was reduced by increasing PVP K-30 concentration. From this observation, it could be concluded that mannitol based green teaextract lozenges with 1% concentration of PVP K-30 was the optimum formula.
