ó ABRASION RESISTANT PUMPS:Our usual method of up-grading a pump is by re-engineering the original worn-out pump casing. To do this we might split the casing in two, and insert a new larger diameter and wider bowl to encapsulate a ceramic lining system; alternatively, we might manufacture an entirely new pump to replace the original. The pumps detailed in this presentation have been re-engineered as follows:

CENTRIFUGAL SLURRY PUMP: This pump has been re-designed and manufactured as a completely new unit, from a steel billets, RESILIDETM and alumina ceramic.

LIME PUMP: With the lime pump we have re-used the suction plate, drive plate, and outlet flange from the original pump. The ceramic lining system has been installed in a new stainless steel housing, so that the internal dimensions of the original pump bowl can be maintained, within the ceramic lining, and then welded to the original pump components that are being re-used.

Both pumps utilise RESILIDETM engineering grade reaction bonded silicon carbide lining systems, with section thicknesses varying from 6 mm to 12 mm. The RESILIDETM lining systems are grouted into the pump casings with an acid resistant refractory cement capable of isolating the ceramic lining systems from structural and thermal movements. The cement grouting system incorporates a method of allowing pumping pressure to equalise behind the ceramic lining, thus allowing high pumping pressures to be accommodated.

PISTON PUMP: With the piston pump we have manufactured a longer cylinder and piston rod. A n alumina ceramic tube has been bonded into the longer cylinder and internally diamond ground. We have used an alumina ceramic piston and piston rod seal, and a RESILIDETM tube bonded over the piston rod in order to minimise rod wear.
