Durante este recurso se trabajará sobre las descripciones de las personas, se

conocerá como utilizar los adjetivos y vocabulario específico. Se estudiará el futuro

simple para hacer predicciones y expresar deseos o propósitos de futuro y se

estudiará el presente histórico.

Se trabajará de forma colaborativa y participativa, esto significa que la fuente de

conocimiento surgirá de la interacción entre compañeros y compañeras a través de

la realización de las diferentes actividades propuestas. Para que el trabajo sea

óptimo, se seguirán las pautas y orientaciones indicadas en cada una, a través de

la consulta de recursos web y enlaces proporcionados como fuentes de información.

Students

To start off

In this resource, Luisa and Miguel give descriptions. They like to describe people.

The resource is divided into four activities:

Activity 1: You are going to describe yourself with adjectives and verbs.

Activity 2: You are going to explain about yourself and other people in a

biography.

Activity 3: Do you know what the future simple is used for? In this activity

you are going to learn about it.

Final activity: This is the final activity. You are going to make two audio

files describing a new friend.

At the end of this resource, you will have done several types of activities: you will

have to work on your own or with classmates, you will have to think, go a step

further if you want more information, and evaluate yourself, etc.

These are some of the skills you will be practising throughout this resource:

Do the activities included in the chapter called "Introductions". Take screenshots of

each activity you do (you can use GIMP), paste them into a text document and

then, send it to your teacher by email or webmail.

The human body.

Do the activities included in the chapters called "The Human Body 1" and "The

Human Body 2". You will learn a lot of vocabulary on the parts of the human body

and about descriptions, too. Take screenshots of each activity you do (you can use

GIMP), paste them into a text document and then, send it to your teacher by email

or webmail.

Finally, write a description about yourself in a text document, using vocabulary and

structures from the materials you have just worked with. The description must also

contain some reference to the senses and to three different parts of your body. For

example, "I have long arms and short hair".

Once you have finished, send the text document with the description to your

teacher by email or webmail.

You are going to take part in a census. But, do you know what a census is?

Your teacher will show the presentation from the link above on the Interactive

Whiteboard. The presentation is read by a character that explains what a census is.

Then, you must download the following survey:

Student’s name.

Date of birth.

Physical appearance (whether you have got long/short/brown/fair/etc. hair,

whether you are tall/short, whether you have got brown/blue/etc. eyes,

etc.).

Family life data (whether you have got brothers or sisters and their names

and age, where you live, etc.).

Favourite colour and food.

Hobbies or favourite activities.

Once you have completed the survey, send a copy by email or webmail to your

teacher.

Activity 2: Biographies- Who was I?

Let's practise together: Creating a personal timeline

In this activity, you will work in pairs. Are you ready?

Only do the activities that you find in the section Dates, which are located in "5.

Consolidate". You will learn how to write dates. Take screenshots of each activity

that you do (you can use GIMP), paste them onto a text document and then, send

it to your teacher by email or webmail.

Then, each member of the pair will create a timeline of his/her life. Use the

following template:

When creating the personal timeline, add up to ten important events in your life,

such as your birthday, the year when you started school, the date when your

sibling(s) was (were) born, etc.

Fill the cells with the appropriate information:

“Date”: the date of the event.

“Title”: a name for the event.

“Description”: what happened on that date.

Do not forget to add a title (in the cell “title”) and your name (in the cell “by”) to

your personal timeline. Finally, save your timeline in Google Docs. Save your

document with the name “Timeline_X” (“X” refers to your name. For example:

“Timeline_RosaGutiérrez”).

Share your timeline with your classmate and teacher. Once you have received your

classmate’s work, write his/her biography in a text document, using the information

provided in his/her personal timeline.

You must write the biography using Present Simple, third person singular forms and

must include the following information:

Name and surname(s), date of birth and place of residence of your

classmate.

A description of your classmate’s life (remember to use the data included in

his/her personal timeline!). Save the document with the name

“Biography_X” (“X” refers to your name. For example:

“Timeline_RosaGutiérrez”).

Once you have finished the task, share the text document with your teacher by

Google Docs.

Only do the activities that you find in the sections "My name is Looney", "I spy with

my little eye" and "Martin, my friend". In these activities, you will learn how to

create personal descriptions and biographies. Take screenshots of each activity that

you do (you can use GIMP), paste them onto a text document and then, send this

document to your teacher by email or webmail.

Then, choose one of your birthday dates. For example: Marc was born on 23rd May

and John was born on 1st January; You agree to choose 23rd May.

Visit this link, search for the date you have just chosen in the calendar there, and

click on it. Then, click on "Also born this day" and choose a famous person from the

list:

Your teacher will show the presentation through the Interactive Whiteboard. You

will learn how to create biographies using information from the "Born this day" link.

Create a biography about the famous character you have just chosen, in a text

document. Use the information you have found on the link Also Born This Day. You

must use present simple, third person singular forms.

Once you have finished the biography, send the document to your teacher so that

he or she can assess it. Once your teacher has done it, create a presentation using

Only do the activities that you find in the sections "Fortune Telling", "The lottery

ticket" and "Superstitions". Do not do the first exercise you find in the section

"Superstitions".

With these activities, you will learn how to make predictions using the future

simple. Take screenshots of each activity that you do (you can use GIMP), paste

them onto a text document and then, send this document to your teacher by email

or webmail.

Then, you and the members of your group are going to create and share a new

Google Docs text document. Share the document with your teacher as well. Don't

forget to provide this new document with a nice title.

Each member of the group will write the prediction for three different horoscopes.

For example: write the predictions for Pisces, Virgo and Libra. To get an idea about

horoscope predictions, you can go to these websites:

Once you have finished writing the predictions on your Google Docs text document,

let your teacher know so he can grade it. Then, in groups, create a Photopeach

presentation:

It's your turn: My Bucket List in a Time Capsule

In this activity, you will work on your own.

Now, you will make a digital glog (poster) with Glogster EDU:

In your poster, include 10-15 goals that you would like to have achieved by the end

of the school year. Some examples are: reading a book, studying harder, visiting a

new city, meeting an English-speaking person, etc.

Once you have finished it, share the link of your glog(poster) with your teacher and

your classmates via email or webmail. Print your glog(poster) and give it to your

teacher as well. Your teacher will keep it in a box and, at the end of the school

year, he will open the box and you will check if you have met your goals.

In case you cannot print your glog(poster), you will show it through the interactive

whiteboard.

Only do the activities that you find in the sections "Find out" and "Explore". With

these activities, you will learn how to ask and give personal information to a pen

pal via email. Take screenshots of each activity that you do (you can use GIMP),

paste them onto a text document and then, send this document to your teacher by

email or webmail.

Now, work in pairs. Imagine your classmate is your English-speaking pen pal. You

will write each other an email. Write the email in a text document. Tell your penpal

about what you will be in the future.

Once you have finished it, share the document with your classmate and your

teacher using Google Docs. Your teacher will correct the document.

Next, you and your classmate will record two audio files, one for each email. You

can use Audacity.

Once you have recorded the two emails, publish the text document and the two

audio files on a blog entry.

Make comments on the blog about the emails created by the rest of your

classmates editing the blog.
