ABOUT US

Global Network for Sustainable Development (GNSD) was initiated by the

group of participants of the leadership workshops Empowerment for Peace

through Leadership in Agribusiness and Sustainability (EmPeaceLABS)

held in Jalgaon (India). The workshops were organized by the partnership be-

tween Arizona State University (ASU) and Gandhi Research Foundation (GRF).

The network was launched at the meeting of Rotary Clubs in Kathmandu

(Nepal) in November 2014. Until April 2017 GNSD was functioning as a project

of ASU Department of Psychology. In August 2017 it was registered in Arizona

as an acting globally NGO, and in January 2018 received a 509 (a) (2) status.

The network is affiliated with ASU and numerous community organizations

worldwide.

MISSION

In the context of increased violent conflicts between ethnic groups, people of dif-

ferent religions, and the easiness with which young individuals are recruited by

terrorist organizations, addressing the issue of a relationship between sustainable

development and peace becomes a high priority. We assume that sustainable de-

velopment is impossible without peace, and that we cannot achieve peace without

sustainable development.

The mission of GNSD is to apply the principle “learning by doing”,

and educate youth about principles of environmental and economic

sustainability, as well as about importance of non-violent conflict

resolutions.

We intend to involve youth in realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals

by creating in schools worldwide Sustainability Clubs for Peace and Peace

Clubs for Sustainability. These clubs will promote the idea of Global Citizenship,

involve their members in community projects addressing protection of environ-

ment and sustainable economic development, as well as instill in youth the value

off non-violent conflict resolutions. GNSD also provides an internet platform al-

lowing youth to maintain a dialog with members of the clubs across the world.

INVITATION TO JOIN OUR NETWORK

ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIP

If you work for any community organization involved in the realization of any of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, you may invite your organization to be-come an organizational member of GNSD. Our goal is to make work of our organizational members visible worldwide. We hope that community activists, governmental officials, university faculty and stu-dents around the world will learn not only about the vision and solution offered by the members of the network, but also about the specific cultural context in which your organization is functioning. Each organization that is a member of GNSD will have its own interactive page on our internet platform, allowing publishing information about the organization's projects and events. This page will also allow posting information about volunteer-ing and funding needs, as well as offer the opportunity to request feedback from other members of the network about projects conducted by the organization. One staff member of the member organization must register as an individual mem-ber of GNSD, and serve as a contact person having access to editing features of the interactive page. In exchange, we expect that the organizational member will indi-cate on its website that it is a member of GNSD, and create there a link to our net-work.
