The MPAL ASC offers after-school assistance with homework, studying, projects, papers, and organization/planning for students. Our youth work with adults who act as tutors and mentors. Daily Snacks are provided thanks to our friends at Highland Park Market! The Center focuses on students in grades 4 through 8 but can also work with older stu-dents on academic work, leadership, life skills, and preparation for life after High School. Socio-cultural & enrichment activi-ties, special events, & visits from Police offic-ers, business professionals, community lead-ers, etc. are routine to help our students con-nect to their community The center emphasizes developing study skills, self-reflection, and personal goal set-ting with students who might otherwise slip through the cracks. For many students the center simply provide a quiet, focused space to work with the benefit of expert guidance from mentors when questions arise. Over time, MPAL ASC students become com-fortable working in an academic environment where they know they have the opportunity to ask questions, build self-confidence, and can ultimately learn to become better self motivat-ed in completing school work!

COSTS

Thanks to support from the Town of Manchester and other Donors, there is

no cost for students to benefit from the PAL Academic Success Center.

DETAILS

GRADES 4-8 are our focus!

We do however welcome Grades 9+ with simple permission from the Program Supervisor.

APPLICATION

The PAL Academic Center is Open to students who reside in the Town of

Manchester!!! A simple application is all that is required to begin!

TRANSPORTATION

Bus transportation to the PAL Center is available to students from Bennet Academy and Illing Middle School.

Students in other grades or schools

must arrange for transportation

ALL students must be picked up by a parent or assigned responsible Adult.

Look for parking and a handicap access ramp. The PAL Center is through the "Double Green doors"

Mrs. Krista Tuohey MPAL ASC Supervisor

Mrs. “T” is the supervisor and coordinator of the MPAL Academic Success Center.

Noted for building quick rapport and trust with students and parents alike, she is focused on keeping track of each child’s progress at school and can work together with the school, PAL mentors, and you as a parent to create a true “TEAM” focused on supporting your child's future success! Mrs. Tuohey is the go-to person for the daily activity of the Academic Success Center. The Center is built to support not only academics, but also study skills, life skills, and positive socialization for our students with their peers, adults, and society in general. Her friendly, caring, and outgoing personality, combined with her expectation that students give their very best allows our students to shine in school and beyond. Mrs. Tuohey also works for the Manchester Board of Education at Bower’s Elementary School as an Aide and Substitute Para. She has a background in Head Start programs and advocacy and is the current President of the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) at Bennet Academy. She is a lifelong resident of Manchester and has two (2) children of her own in Manchester Schools at Bennet and Illing Middle.
