longer than their rivals Even though initially a little expensive, the

wonder bulbs earn value for money because of their functional benefit realised in the long run

The benefits in statistics: The light bulbs can reduce around 66 percent of

household light cost

If people replace at least one conventional bulb with CFLs, the energy saved is fair enough to provide lighting to millions of homes.

You can save the earth by paying attention to simple details:

Contact local waste authority to help you with information on what to do when the bulbs are of no use.

See if your local stores have any collection bins for CFLs. Many stores accept the bulbs for reusing purposes.

Visit websites like Earth 911 or RecycleABulb.com to search locations that would accept the CFLs for recycling.

Look for waste collection events happening in your area. Get the CFLs you have stored to give to the organisers on that specific day.

Broke a CFL?

Open windows, wear gloves, sweep up using disposable brush, and gently pick up the remaining with paper towel. Put the pieces in newspaper, and place the whole lot inside sealable bag. Without putting it in rubbish bin, the best thing is to store it carefully until it reaches any chemical disposal facility. That is so much of work! So, the ideal practice is definitely using the bulb carefully and not to break them.
