Body As Vehicle:

Abhaya started its seasonal project 'Hunt the winter' for this year. Trustee Ramakrishna Guptha lead a team of 5 volunteers on the first day of distribution. Vaibhav, an Engineering student, Siva Prakash from Teradata, Ravi from Colruyt and Siva Krishna from NCR participated in the distribution. The team spent 3 hours in the chilled mid night to find out the real needy and spread the warmth blanket over 45 people.

The situation of the people is so pathetic. Most of the people are in need. So many people are covering themselves in newspapers, polythin covers and cement bags. There are situations where we have to go close to the person, to identify whether someone is there in the bag or not. Thank you very much for your participation (Hari Babu, Sanjeev Rao,

Bhogesh,& Manoj (Manoj travelled 20 km from his residence to participate in

the Hunt the Winter, really Hatsoff ) in Hunt the Winter on 19/11/2011. I am

sharing some pictures of the good times we had.

We were 5 professionals who participated in the project and enjoying the cold

weekend night with 40 blankets; 20 km, 3 hours; 40 beneficiaries: right

beginning, apartment security, people sleeping on pavements, near temples,

market places, night patrolling police personnel etc.

It was very wonderful and thrilling experience. Many beneficiaries thanked us

with overwhelming surprise in their eyes. I feel I slept for 3 hrs with a heartily

satisfaction. Hope to join with you all for many such occasions

This is Srikanth Chaganti, friend of Siva Krishna Kuchi who is an

active participant of Abhaya Foundation good causes. I have been

observing the good work that is being taken up by Abhaya

Foundation over the past few years and I am inspired by the way

Abhaya dealing with the causes/cases and I have decided to take

part with few of my friends in Hunt The Winter program for this year.

I have convinced two of my friends Mr . Dileep Dara and Mr. Sunil

“ H E A RT ” Health Care Update

Neeraja (Kadapa)

Neeraja, got permission for her kidney transplantation from both the

governments of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Her operation is planned in

next month and they need to pay surgery fee 1.5Lakhs before that.

Chandrasekhar, uncle of Neeraja pooled about Rs.80,000/- with in his circle of

friends. Bijo, abhaya well-wisher and health worker at St.John hospital is also

trying his best to pool some money for this case. After noting all these

resources, abhaya is ready to sponsor for the remaining money if needed.

Abhaya got an update from Bijo that her parents sold off their property and paid

the Operation fee and the operation is postponed due to the condition of baby.

We are waiting for some clarity from their side and informed the same to

Chandrasekhar, who is taking care of this mission.

This is regarding my patient by name Venkatesam from

Mahalingapura (Dobhi Palli) aged about 35 years has been suffering

from neglected dislocation of hip joint since 3 months, where the

femur head blood supply was lost for which he needs modular hip

replacement which is out of his financial limit and needs help as he

is the soul bread winner of the family of 5 people and the actual cost

of the procedure was about Rs.1,00,000/- but we came to know

from M.Udaybhasker Reddy, Medico Social Worker, Narayana

Hrudayalaya that your organization is helping for the patient. So we

wanted to charge only consumables which is used in surgery which

may cost about Rs.50-60 thousands and we want to use standard

implant only as patient is young.

Alternatively if we remove the femoral head that is called excision arthroplasty (costing about Rs.20,000/-)

which is very old time procedure done only in India in the previous decade and because of financial crisis we

advised as a salvage procedure for which the patient will have pain relief only but he cannot walk properly

and cannot attend his daily activities but the procedure what we have proposed is advanced surgery where

he can do all activities individually except sitting on the floor example sitting on Indian toilet etc this is for

your kind information and best possible help.

Sirisha - Divya (Hyderabad)

Its been two months since special children

Sirisha and Divya joined in Sweekar Upakar.

Though the period is not sufficient to get a good

update, we are happy to note that the elder girl

Sirisha is doing fine with the treatment and

there is some improvement. In these two

months, we observed them to be irregular to the

treatment due to other health issues. Abhayan

Siva Krishna is in regular contact with their mother Manga, Sweekar

Upakar principal and the Doctor. Upon consultation with principal and

doctor, we extended the help for 2 months and paid the fee Rs.7000/-.

We spoke to their mother Manga about irregularity and told that the

help can't be extended if they found irregular in coming two months.

All her 4 years fee being paid by Sai Devotees, US, nothing big abhaya did for her...But... She is kind in treating abhaya as her mentor all the time. She successfully completed her degree now and joined SSSIHMS, Puttaparthy.

More over when she was in final year, she was not feeling well and later doctors confirmed that she got a hole in the heart... She has been operated free of cost at B'lore Sai Super Specialty Hospital. It was again godly intervention in her life. Now she started serving at Sri Sathya Sai Hospital, Puttaparthy as Staff Nurse. She with all her gratitude expressed her love and care to Swamy, Aruna, abhaya...

From abhaya Value Center, Hyderabad

I am B.Satya Prasad IAS aspirant, presently took shelter in ABHAYA value center. I came to value

center on November 1st. Earlier I used to come to institution from Jeedimetla which takes at least 4

hours for journey. I was very tired with the long journey. Because of value center i am saving 4 hours

of time. In this 4 hours of time I am trying to develop my communication skills and English too. In

value center my roommate Mahesh is helping in clarifying the doubts and

we are discussing on different subjects every day.

I need some guidance. That is why I want to meet civil service officers.

Abhaya Value center is very useful to me because it has peaceful

environment. I am very much interested to participate in Abhaya's

activities like "Youth Awareness camps & Hunt the winter and other

service activities"and also it is useful to improve my communication

skills. I would like to thank ABHAYA foundation for providing the facilities

I joined as an IT associate @ JKCI am very happy to be with Abhaya and participate in its activities during November'11. I am also happy to share with Abhaya that I have joined as IT- Associate in JKC on 10th November. I am going to work in JKC till I get appointment letter from Mahindra Satyam. We had a training for 20 days on Technical, Aptitude, Reasoning, Communication and Soft Skills at JKC, Hyderabad and post training I may be posted for any district in AP and I am confident of getting posted to my own district i.e., Anantapur.

My job is to go to JKC registered colleges and conduct sessions on technical, aptitude, reasoning, communication and soft skills for the JKC registered students. We also conduct workshops on these skills for them. I will be getting about Rs.10, 000/- per month for associating with JKC.

I am fine, Hope all ABHAYANS are fine. As usual my preparation is going well. During this month I

participated in a speech competition at State Central Library, I got 3rd prize. Abhaya value center is

not only a shelter for me but also library (Pleasant and silent environment).

In this month I was a part of a great event of ABHAYA at KADIRI. Many people believe that "LEADERS

ARE BORN BUT NOT MADE", but I want to rewrite the statement as "LEADERS ALSO CAN BE MADE"

with the support of ABHAYA's values, inspirations and motivation. I want to be a great leader in

Indian Administrative Service, In order to improve my leadership qualities (like public speaking,

motivating, empowering and public interaction.....), I was given a great opportunity to speak before

thousands of college students at KADHRI in Anantapur District. Really that was an unforgettable

event so far in my life (Like sitting on Dais, Speaking with Huge crowd and giving autographs....) and

also I have learnt many things like how to behave on the dais, maintain dignity, interacting with

students and children.

I am eagerly waiting to be a part of such events with my life time designation as M Mahesh I.A.S.And

also I will try my level best to be part of ABHAYA's events, programs and service activities wherever

Harish kumar wish to become a CA

Harish kumar is a meritorious

student of Intermediate, hailing

from Pamidi village of Ananthapur

district. He got 500+ marks in his

SSC and Secured a seat in APRJC,

Kodigenahalli. He is pursuing his

Intermediate with MEC group and

ambit ious to be Chartered

Accountant. He did well in his first

year examinations and got 87%.

His father is a tailor and mother is a

housewife. He has a brother, who is

in final year polytechnic and helping his father in work. His

father can't afford for this professional course. From a well

wisher they came to know about abhaya and approached for

possible help. After all investigations, abhaya felt that he is

capable to do the course. He has already registered with the

ICAI and got the required books. As he still needs to study

intermediate, abhaya asked him to prepare simultaneously till

January and then to focus only on intermediate to get good

marks in Inter. His target is to cross 90% in intermediate and

to come Hyderabad for CA coaching after the examinations

with abhaya care.

She got cash prize from CM on 14th November'2011 at Ravindra Bharathi as she,

being declared as the Best Student in the Class in terms of Studies, Discipline,

Punctuality and regularity. She would now be completing the training. Abhaya felt

immensely happy about her progress and sanctioned Rs.1000/- cash prize for her.

Abhaya visited AP Juvenile

Home on 14th November

On the eve of Children's day. Abhaya visited the

juvenile home (A.P State home for boys) at

saidabad in the evening. By 7.pm we were there

with a team of Dastagiri, Satya srinivas, baby

along with the founder. Abhaya purchased sweets,

soap boxes and combs to distribute to the boys

over there.

We have addressed 250 Children nearly who came

from Vizag, Tirupathi also. Each one of them spoke

to them about our lives and what to do inorder to

succeed in our lives. They were very much

impressed by our clippings and the interactive

session we had. Some of the boys from Tirupathi

also spoke as well. They remembered Abhaya's

visit to Tirupathi and shred the memories. At last,

we distributed sweets, soap boxes, and combs to

all the boys and dispersed by 09.15 pm. The staffs

Then everyweek preferably on a Sunday we can think of sending one or two persons from each dept of our NCC. students at KadiriThe Management of Space Jr College consequent to

abhaya's visit to Kadiri Govt Jr Colleges in the month of July

2011, invited Abhaya to visit their colleges for a day on

26th November. Dr Prashanth and Principal Smt. Saritha

Prashanth coordinated with as many as 10 Colleges/

Schools in the town on behalf of abhaya & SPACE. Abhaya

teams from Hyderabad and Bangalore participated in the

program.

Abhaya team addressed about 2000 College/School

students in 2 separate sessions on different topics (College

Students: Personality Development & School Students:

how to study well & get good marks). Abhaya team shared

their thoughts and philosophy on becoming complete

personality. The theme is that any person who can have

excellence in individual, family, profession, society and

spirituality phases in life will surely become a “complete

personality”. There were students from 8 colleges in Kadiri

attended this work shop and admired by the words of team.

CS Thirupal and Gowripathi (GMR) from Bangalore, Siva

Krishna, Vikram and Mahesh from Hyderabad participated

in the program along with Founder.

During the second session in the afternoon, abhaya team

spoke to school kids and addressed on “how to study well &

inspired from the sessions and more than above… he declared that

Rs.5000/- will be given to abhaya's cause every year during the month of

August in memory of Harish behind whom Harish English Medium School

was established.

The entire program has been very nicely covered by almost all the leading

news papers in the state in their district editions and the sessions became

TALK OF THE TOWN on that day as there was no such program of this

Ramesh is confident to start innings in his

Ramesh is greate and his confidence levels increased

very positively and abhaya team could see the change

consistently for the last couple of months. He is now at

edge of completing his Mobile Repair course and

confident of earning on his own. Abhaya team provided

medicines to his mother and she is now healthy and

started doing work. Abhaya team is looking out for

probable work where no water related needs to be

handled by her considering her health issues. 2 younger

brothers of Ramesh are also doing well and fine. Sai

Jairam Shetty to reprogram his life at

Karantaka:

When abhaya visited Jairam Shetty

about 6 months back, it was

understood that there is a need to

provide some source of income for

him to live a life with a respect.

However there is nothing he can do as

he was on bed for the last 2 decades.

There were about 6 family members

in that remote village and no one is

earning anything big. Abhaya

cautioned him that he must look out

for some income generating sources… and abhaya cannot transfer monthly

allowance for long time. This made him to think seriously about his life and he

said no one educated him in the said regard.

Then he very smartly shared couple of options with abhaya

team and option of buying Power Tilling Machine for him been

finalized in consultation with Sri Subhash Chharbria,

Industrialist, Banglaore who brought him to abhaya about a

year back. Now abhaya provided him about Rs.75,000/- and

Subhash kindly provided Rs.25,000/- for the cause. Furhter he

took a loan of Rs.15,000/- (this also can be given to him if

abhaya gets more donations) and Government of Karnataka

given Rs.50,000/- subsidy in buying the machine. This would

fetch him an average of

Rs.8,000 -10,000/- pm.

Jyothi without Jyothi in her life

Jyothi is a visually challenged lady approached abhaya for any possible help to her. She has been given a small

shop by government to sustain. In that shop she is selling some daily usage things and able to earn Rs. 20 – 40/-

per day. Her husband is a daily labor and he never cares the family. She has three children, two boys aged 15 and

12 and one girl of 9 years. The children don't have any awarness and not even going for the school. The elder son

swallowed some tablets in his childhood, which affected his health. All three children will sleep in the shop that

they have and Jyothi will sleep beside the shop. Her condition is pathetic and she is in real need. After

understanding her situation, we are thinking to provide some help to extend hershop, after visiting her once..

Update: abhaya volunteers visited her shop and the need is genuine. Abhaya want to take up this

mission, which will enrich their family.

Abhaya expressed love to its

donors :

Abhaya thought of spreading its love to all the well-wishers

and regular supporters, who miss the annual event on

October 29 @ Marriot. We arranged a get together with the

friends and arranged high tea for them. All of them have

been handed over the tokens of love and take aways.

Futher we discussed about spreading the message of

abhaya in their circles and to focus on Hunt the winter for

these two months.

First of all my sincere apologies for not communicating with you all this time. What happened is

happened. I do not want to give any irrelevant excuses as i was not in touch intentionally due to

all other works of mine. It took me this long time to know that i am missing something here and

that is being part of some good work. Right now i may not serve Abhaya in person but i am

always in it. I need some time to be back and be a part of it. I hope you understand where i

stand. But for now what all i can do is help the good causes with my little contributions from my

earnings over here. I cannot spread the message here because it is all a different environment

here and i do not see them to be willing to be a part of some good services. I am doing fine with

my studies. Hope i finish them and be back to India asap. This is all for now.
