Cold Feet is a stylishly shot comedy weaving in and out of the lives of a group of thirysomethings and starring Helen Baxendale, James Nesbitt and John Thomson.

Nine months after the pilot, Adam and Rachel are waging a territorial battle with each of them wanting to stay at their respective homes. Pete and Jenny suggest that they should move in together but Adam is still too scared to make that kind of commitment and suggests ‘cloning their wardrobes’ as a typically ill thought-out compromise.

David and Karen continue their domestic bickering, despite the fact that Karen now has Ramona, a nanny who (much to David’s horror) has not quite mastered the English language. David’s latest quibble is that Josh is not developing as quickly as other children in his class and he constantly berates Karen for their son’s lack of progress. Given that David is hardly ever home, however, Karen is not overly concerned about David’s approach to child-rearing until he decides that what Josh really needs is a younger sibling. An idea that Karen is totally opposed to.

Pete and Jenny are poles apart when it comes to the imminent birth of their first child. Pete is obsessed by what is happening to Jenny’s body, has read and memorised every pregnancy book on the market and has even drawn up maps of different emergency routes to the hospital, while Jenny is simply aware that she is becoming fat and unattractive. Pete buys a mobile phone as a ‘child birth hot line’ but after a night on the town with Adam and David, the phone goes missing - just as Jenny’s contractions start.

No Way San Jose: Cocktails In Costa Rica

Aussie siblings Joe and Anna plan to build the greatest cocktail bar on earth. Can they make their dream come true?

After a 36 hour journey, Joe and Anna arrive at the airport in San Jose, Costa Rica. They head straight to the house of friend and eco-tour planner Sarah-Joy, and her Costa Rican partner Julio, who have offered to host them for their first few days in the country at their cottage in the rainforest.

Refusing to let jet lag get the better of them, Anna, Joe and Sarah-Joy decide to check out San Jose’s nightlife and end up in a popular gay club called ‘Club O’. After a few drinks, Joe decides to escape to the owner’s office to ask for some money. Martin, the owner, is not interested in investing in the cocktail bar, but he gives Joe some free advice: a cocktail bar in San Jose just won’t work.

Over the next few days, Joe and Anna inspect a variety of potential bar locations. The first is a scary old log cabin on a cliff-edge in the mountains. Next is a pretty little restaurant in a hillside villa complex with panoramic views of the whole central valley. The third and most promising is an incomplete two storey building on a busy commercial strip in the up-market suburb of Santa Ana. However, the rent is way out of their price range.

Finally, Joe and Anna decide to do some exploring of the country and plan a two-week road-trip to Costa Rica’s coastal towns and popular tourist destinations in the hope of stumbling across the ideal location for their bar.

Will they return empty-handed or will they discover a magical paradise and say ‘No Way to San Jose’?

Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory


After a successful harvest in Venezuela, Willie begins to process his cocoa back home in his Devon chocolate factory. But progress comes to a grinding halt when Willie receives some challenging feedback from Britain’s top chocolatier, William Curley.

William suggests that Willie needs to refine his product more. In order to do this Willie needs to purchase a new chocolate refining machine as his current grinder isn’t doing the job. Production comes to a standstill but Willie’s greater chocolate mission hasn’t.

Willie hatches a plan to develop a hot chocolate product to sell alongside his 100% cocoa bars. Looking for distributors, Willie attempts to win a huge order for his chocolate from Selfridges department store. Armed with a rich chocolate cake, Willie meets with Selfridges hoping to win them over.

But with Willie needing to borrow more money from the bank and with no money coming into the household, Tania’s feeling the pressure and the tension between Willie and Tania grows.

Tonight’s recipes include both sweet and savoury recipes; porcini and chocolate risotto, cloud forest chocolate cake and maple and pecan tart.

In an interview recorded shortly after Curtis, now 82, defied doctors to emerge from a coma, Dr Pamela Connolly talks to him about his violent mother, his guilt over the death of his younger brother, and how these affected his relationships with some of the world’s most famous.

Curtis talks affectingly about his love affair with Marilyn Monroe and about how his addiction to drugs and drink nearly destroyed him. Tears flow as Curtis - now married to his fifth wife - tells Pamela: “I wanted to be a hero all my life. I didn’t want to end up as the enemy.”

But it all goes wrong when they spend too much; Danny (Stephen Tomkinson) can’t afford to mend the fences and a disease spreads from Mara and starts to kill his stock. Evan (Luke Ward-Wilkinson) has to start school and is worried about how he will be received, but with the support – and some slightly dodgy advice - from Du Plessis (Deon Stewardson) he faces his challenge bravely.

Evan acquires some tiger cubs at Fatani’s expense and the family fail gloriously to get their lodges approved by the tourist board.

Red Dwarf Special 2009: Back To Earth

Earth in 2009 is not everything the boys from Red Dwarf expected and the final part of this Back To Earth trilogy throws up some genuinely hilarious moments.

Knowing they are just characters in a TV show destined to die, the Dwarfers head to Coronation Street to track down those responsible for their creation, and plead for their lives.

Cat (Danny John-Jules), Kryten (Robert Llewellyn) and Rimmer (Chris Barry) attempt to fit in with the local inhabitants by adopting the accent and vocabulary – “thanks very much chuck”.

Craig Charles, who plays Red Dwarf’s uber slob Dave Lister, and who has been a regular character, cabbie Lloyd Mullaney, in Coronation Street since 2005 – is asked to reveal the location of their creator.

When they arrive at the mysterious location, the Dwarfers confront their creator (Richard O’Callaghan) in a sequence that involves Rimmer pleading for his own sitcom, Lister putting words in everybody’s mouths and Kryten getting a series of rakes in the face.

The creator tells them he intends to kill them off in his final episode but he is killed himself.

Shortly afterwards the Dwarfers discover that they are in a shared hallucination caused by a female relative of the Despair Squid that uses joy, rather than despair, to subdue her victims.

Cat smuggles the squid aboard their ship while they reflect on the ridiculous idea that anyone could consider them as simply fictional characters.

Merry Christmas: Joyeux Noel

A hit of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, and nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars, Golden Globe Awards and BAFTAs, this is a story of courage and dignity that touched three nations which went to war in 1914. On Christmas Eve in Northern France, officers and soldiers from Scotland, Germany and France, who fought each other on a daily basis from trenches barely 100 metres apart, put down their weapons and called a truce.

Although political leaders had promised the troops that the war would be resolved by Christmas 1914, by December of that year the chill of winter had set in and everyone could sense it would be a long conflict. This is where the story of Merry Christmas begins. On Christmas Eve, singing from the German trenches is overheard across the battlefield by the Scottish troops, and they strike up the bagpipes as an accompaniment. The French watch on as the Germans and Scots venture into No Man's Land with a Christmas tree as a symbol of peace, and then join them in the celebration with bottles of champagne.

Soon a truce is arranged and for a brief time, forgetting the allegiances of war, the Germans, Scots and French mingle together on the battlefield. They spend Christmas together sharing wine and food, playing football, exchanging photos and memories and taking time to bury the dead. These men and their peers easily find a common ground that is dangerously subversive to their superiors. Where does the holiday spirit end and high treason begin?

The excellent international cast includes Diane Kruger (Copying Beethoven), Gary Lewis (Billy Elliot), Guillaume Canet (The Beach), Benno Furmann (My House in Umbria), Daniel Bruhl (Ladies in Lavender), Alex Ferns (The Ghost & The Darkness) and Steven Robertson (Kingdom of Heaven).
