Letter “A”Apple : a rounded fruit with red, yellow or green skin

When my mom went to the grocery store, the apples were on sale .

•Can be a bright red, yellow or green

•Grows on trees

•Can be bought at the grocery store

Letter “B”Beans : a seed or pod of any various erect or a climbing leguminous plants

When I went to go and eat on the buffet they have beans .

•Can be brown, black or green

•Farmers grow it

•Found at a lot of restaurants

Letter “C”Corn : the seed of a cereal grass & especially of the important crop

My grandpa owns a farm and him and his sons plant/grow corn .

•Is yellow

•Grown in fields from farmers

•It is a crop

Letter “D”Dumplings : a small mass of dough cooked by boiling or steaming

Every time we go to Crackle Barrel Anna gets dumplings .

•You can eat them at Crackle Barrel

•Cooked balls of dough

•Dumplings can be sweet or spicy

Letter “E”Eggs : the hard shelled reproductive body produced by a bird When you bake a cake you have to use eggs .

•They contain protein, minerals and vitamins except vitamin C

•China produces most of the eggs

•A fresh egg will sink and a stale one will float

When you go to a seafood restaurant, most likely there is going to be fish .

•You will find it on most menus at the beach

•There are various types of fish you can eat

•They have been on earth more than 450 million years

Letter “G”Grape :green or purple berry with sweet juicy flesh that grows in bunches on a vine, eaten fresh or used to make wine or juice When you go to the grocery store there are red and green grapes .

•They can be green or red/purple grapes

•You can buy them at the grocery store

•One grape vine can grow to be 50 feet long

Letter “H”Hamburger : a ground beef ;a cooked pattyWhen I go to Pats in Benson I get a hamburger .

•The world hamburger probably existed by the end of the middle ages

•You can buy hamburgers most likely at any restaurant.

•Hamburgers today are served with pickles and lettuce etc.

Letter “I”Icing: a sweet glace made of sugar, butter, water & eggs

When my mom bakes a cake she puts icing on it .

•You put them on cakes and cupcakes

•It is really ,really sweet

•It can be different colors

Letter “j”jam : a spread made by boiling fruit

When I got to Crackle Barrel I see a lot of people with jam .

•It is very sticky

•They are made by cooking whole fruit with sugar

•It contains a whole cup of fruit and rest sugar

Letter “K”Kiwi : a green fruit with a fuzzy outside I don’t like to eat kiwi because of the fuzzy outside .

•There are more than 400 different varieties of kiwi fruit.

•Kiwi can be small or medium in size

•The shell of the skin can be eaten or peeled

Letter “L”Lettuce : a common garden vegetable of the daisy family

When I go out to eat my mom always gets a salad which has lettuce in it .•Americans eat about 30 lbs of lettuce every year

•There are 4 different types of lettuce

•The lettuce we see today actually started out as weed

Letter “M”Mango : a smooth rind, sweet juicy flesh ; a flat one seeded stone

To eat the mango you have to cut it with a Sharpe knife.

•Mangos are about 6 in long

•It has a thick greenish or yellowish skin

•a mango tree can grow up to be ninety feet long

Letter “N” Nectarine : a variety of peach having a smooth down less skin

Nectarine almost tastes like peaches because it has a variety of peaches in it. •The nectarine tree produces peaches

•A nectarine is almost identical to a peach

•It has been known for 2,000 years

Letter “O”Orange : reddish yellow bitter or sweet edible citrus fruit

Oranges are used in orange juice that some people may drink in the morning.

•In Jamaica people clean their floors with a half orange

•Spain has over 35,000,000 orange trees

•they grow on evergreen trees which are about 30 ft tall

Letter “P”Papaya : a large yellow melon like fruit of a American shrub

In the middle of a papaya there are tons of seeds .

•There are two types of papayas

•Papayas like to be warm form the sunshine

•The papaya is the fruit of the Carica Papaya tree

Letter “Q”Quince : the fruit such as a tree

Quince is almost like an apple it grows off a tree and almost looks like a yellow apple .

•The fruit is to small and to hard to be of commercial value

•The quince is a relative value of the apple and the pear

•Over 4,000 years the trees have grown in Asia

Letter “R”Rambutan : the bright red oval fruit

An unpeeled rambutan looks like a grape but just a different color.

•In some countries the rambutan is common in gardens

•It is eaten fresh

•Rambutan is most commonly grown in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia

Letter “S”Star fruit : fruit in the shape of a star that tastes like kiwi

In our cafeteria at school they serve star fruit with certain meals.

•It is 6 inches long

•They are produced by the carambola tree

•It has waxy skin

Letter “T”Tomato : red fruit eaten raw or cooked as a vegetable

There are tomatoes in ketchup.

•It’s the worlds most popular fruit

•There are more than 16 million tons of tomatoes grown each year

•Tomatoes are rich in vitamin A and C

Letter “U”Ugli : a large sweet variety of tangelo having yellow skin

Ugli fruit almost looks like a rotten orange .

•Ugli is a Jamaican fruit

•It is a size of a smallish grapefruit but is sweeter

•The American pronunciation is “ugly”

Letter “V”Voavango : a round fruit that is green with white dots and turns brown when fully ripe

Voavango is a Spanish tamarind fruit.

•It is about 1.5 to 2 in big

•It is a Spanish tamarind

•It is a very rare fruit

Letter “W”Watermelon : having a hard green rind & sweet watery pink or reddish flesh During the summer time my grandma brings home watermelon .

•Watermelon is actually a vegetable not a fruit

•Over 1,200 varieties of watermelons are grown

•Watermelon became apart of the dictionary in 1615

Letter “X”Xigua : looks like a watermelon only shorter in size

When you plant watermelons in a garden they almost look like xigua

•It is found in Africa

•It is a small fruit

•The fruit is favorite with the birds

Letter “Y”Yellow watermelon : same as watermelon just a different color which is yellow Yellow watermelon looks just like regular watermelon but on the inside instead of it being pink it is yellow .

• It is not sold at grocery stores

• It is very rare

• It is commonly used in salads

Letter “Z”Zucchini : a variety of squash having an elongated shape & smooth skin

Zucchini is more popular in Italy verse North America .

•Strange explorers are the ones who bring back zucchini

•They contain useful amounts of folate

•The skin color can be black , dark green and pale green
