    MNS-MCC Overview

Maintainable and Higher Level of Safety

The ABB MNS-MCC by ABB offers advance technology allowing

ease of maintenance and a higher level of safety. With features

as the following ABB is better able to serve its industrial custo-

    mers.

The MNS-MCC incorporates the features of the IEC stan-

dards along with all the UL requirements into a unique com-

    prehensive product offering.

With its unique withdrawable technology inherited from its

global roots of the ABB MNS, the MNS-MCC allows removal

of each withdrawable unit without tools providing a higher

level of safety due to minimum exposure.

With the rotary handle and unit electrical and mechanical me-

chanism the MNS-MCC is able to provide a test position that

better serves todays arc flash requirements for performing

    routine maintenance.

The MNS-MCC meets the following standards: UL845, CSA,

NOM, and IBC-2006. It offers amperage ratings up to 4000A

and short circuit ratings up to 100kA at 600V.

    Globally Renowned Products

The ABB MNS-MCC is designed, constructed, and built to en-

hance the product features from ABB products such as:

    ABB PST and PSTB Softstarter

ABB A-l ine Contactors ABB ACS350, ACS550, and ACS800 variable frequency

    drives

ABB Tmax molded case breakers and Emax power breakers

With ABB globally leading products integrated in the MNS-

MCC, ABB motor control center offers better reliability. With

the use of the ABB molded case breakers and its true current

limiting protection and high interrupting capacities, each unit is

well protected and high overall system interrupting short circuit

    ratings are possible.

    1. Standard Finish

The MNS-MCC standard paint f inish is a textured ANSI 61 l ight grey. With the unique textured paint, b le

shes and scratches are hidden as well as i t allows for ease of cleaning and maintaining.

    7. Motor Lead and Control Wire Connections

The MNS-MCC util izes pull apart terminal b locks for each withdrawable unit for motor lead connections

control wiring. The motor leads are terminated in the wireway. The unit then plugs into the pull apart ter

block keeping the cabling to a minimum. There is no need to disconnect when removing unit. Same co

    applies to the control wiring.

    6. Horizontal Wireways

The MNS-MCC is equipped with two horizontal wire ways. The top wireway measures 6 h igh and the b

    tom measures 7.

    5. Bus

The MNS-MCC provides silver and t in plated horizontal bus up to 4000A thus reducing the tota l number

MCCs required. The vertical bus provided on the MNS-MCC has ratings of 800A and 1600A allowing a

ater load to be installed in the bus, therefore also helping reduce the total number of sections required.

    4. Multifunction Separator

The MNS-MCC uses a multi function separator for mounting of all withdrawable units. The mult ifunction

separator wall provides finger safe (IP20) protection with the unit removed.

    3. Rolling and Locking Withdrawable Mechanism

The MNS-MCC is provided with a locking and rol ling mechanism in each bucket that allows locking the

drawable unit in place while in each of the five positions.

    2. Withdrawable Unit

The MNS-MCC uses a unique withdrawable unit technology. The unit itself optimizes al l internal space

available. All units are provided with pull-apart terminal blocks for control and power connections there

limiting the number of times customer connections need to be made. The door is part of the unit. Each

is provided with a rotary handle that provides ease of operation with the following five positions: ON, O

TEST, ISOLATED, AND MOVE. A quarter-turn la tch is used to secure each door in the closed position

    8. Isolated Position

The MNS-MCC provides an isolated position for every withdrawable unit. Units locked in this posi tion

disconnected from the vertical bus, motor terminations and control power, making it ideal for lock-out/ta

    out.
