The range focuses on a ‘back to basics’ concept that marries classic styles with traditional autumnal colours, such as warm reds and cobalt blues, set against a monochrome black-and-white backdrop.

Colour blocking and two-tone looks feature through-out the new collection echoing the activewear and athle-tic references represented on the world’s catwalks during the Autumn 2014 fashion shows while floral prints are reminiscent of the mid-90s bohemian chic.

ThE PRODUCTS

As always, technical fabrics shape the collection with StretchLite, StretchDry, Windvent and DryCool fabrics featuring throughout.

A new addition to the Aba-cus Sportswear’s rainwear line for Autumn 2014 is the Walton waterproof trousers that complement the Walton rain jacket, which was first introduced into the brand’s Spring/Summer 2014 collec-tion, completing the suit.

As with all abacus® products, the Walton garments encap-

sulate the brand’s authentic Swedish design and functionality ethos, delive-ring full freedom of motion benefits, in-cluding a significant CoS of 2.33, which underlines the technology’s outstanding elasticity.

A recurring theme throughout both the rainwear and windwear programmes is the contrasting zip and collar details, adding a classic ‘sporty’ touch to the collection.

It is this season’s new Score fleece that brings to the fore Abacus Sportswear’s concept of freedom of motion. Made from stretch reverse fleece material, whereby the thick, pill fleece is on the interior of the garment and the exterior is similar to a satin soft shell, the Score jacket moves in total sync with the golfer, ensuring complete flexibility, comfort and warmth.

Available in either a jacket or a vest, the Score fleece comes in a variety of two-tone colour palettes, and its warm, technical qualities mean it can be worn for other winter sports, such as skiing or snowboarding.

ThE RESORT COLLECTION

Abacus Sportswear has developed an entirely new range for its Autumn 2014 collection, which is aimed at golfers who enjoy balmy winter temperatures and warmer year-round climates.

At its core, the Resort Collection has been designed to address the increasing demand of abacus® pro-ducts in regions such as the Far-East and America’s warm coastal states. However, it also befits golfers seeking winter sun and drier playing conditions during the Autumn/Winter season.

The new line is based on nautical-inspired colours, varying shades of light browns and the continuation of floral bohemian.

Providing a wide range of light-weight chinos, capris and shorts, as well as UV-protective polos and tops, the new range combines Aba-cus Sportswear’s brand principles of simplicity, functionality and Swedish design.

HERE COMES THE SUN. RELAX, WE’LL PROTECT YOU At Abacus Sportswear our aim is to develop good looking, functional clothes that deliver what they promise and really work in all weathers.

We have amongst other things utilized the natural fibre from the coconut shell which contains active carbon and protects against UV radiation (Cocona®). With a combination of bamboo carbon and microfibre we have woven another wonderful fabric that protects against UV radiation and also reduces the risk of un-pleasant odours when the sun makes you hot. So let the sun shine.

To create rainwear is actually not so very difficult. The big challenge lies in being able to play good golf in them. At Abacus Sportswear we develop our rain garments using a number of fundamental criteria. They must be watertight, ventilated, wind tight and durable. And they must have elasticity, good fit and design which gives you 100 percent comfort and freedom of motion.

A garment’s WATERTIGhTNESS is usually measured in millimetre water pillar (WP). 1 000 WP means quite simply that the garment stands up to the pressure of 1 000 mm water (imagine that you hold a 1 metre high tube of water against the garment without the water coming through the fabric). A garment with 2 000 WP is allowed to be called waterproof according to EU standards, but if you have pressure against the garment a higher figure than that is needed. If you for example use a carry bag, the pressure is increased over your shoulders and back and that can press water through the fabric. If this is the case you should choose a jacket with at least 10 000 WP.

Even though the outside of a garment must stand up to pressure from water, it’s the opposite on the inside. The garment needs to ventilate or breathe to be comfortable. BREAThABILITY is measured by how many grams water per square metre the fabric allows through over 24 hours, this measurement is known as MP.

All you really need to know is that if there’s an abacus® label in the collar you have a perfect golf garment that will keep you nice and dry during the worst rain weather.
