– Associated almost since last 3 decades– In the 1980’s, Prime supporter of India’s only international event –
Himalayan rally – In the 1990’s, formed its own racing team and went on becoming 7
time Indian national rally champion and 1st ever Asian zone champions.
– First season in 1997– Considered to be the stepping stone for Indian racers
For many years it was the initiatives by JK Tyres and MRF that kept the mantle of motorsports alive. The big turn around happened when Volkswagen entered the arena with their one-make series.
Indian Discoveries1. Hari Singh – The first Indian to win Asia Zone Rally Championship and 5-times Indian
National Rally Champion
2. Gaurav Gill - India's leading rally driver graduated from JK Tyre’s karting and racing programmes. First Indian driver to win a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
3. Akbar Ebrahim - First Indian to drive in F3 and F2 championships
4. Narain Karthikeyan - Fastest Indian in the World and first Indian to drive in Formula 1
5. Karun Chandhok - Youngest Indian F1 driver recently participated in the LMP2 category of the Le Mans 24 hours Endurance race, currently participating in the FIA World GT Series.
6. Armaan Ebrahim – Currently participating in the FIA World GT Series, 1st Indian driver to race in Indy Lites, USA, 1st Indian driver and 1st rookie to win a Formula BMW, and has participated in the A1GP, Renault V6, GP2 and Formula2 races.
7. Aditya Patel - 1st Indian to win the grueling 24 hours of Nurburgring, 1st Indian to win the JK Racing Asia Series. Currently participating in the ADAC GT Masters.
8. Akhil Khushlani -1st Indian to make it to the podium at the JK Racing Asia Series 2012. He earned 2 podium finishes and top 5 finishes in over 12 races in the Formula BMW Series, finished 5th at the World Karting Championships in 2005
Rayomand Banajee, Parthiva Sureshwaran, Ashwin Sundar, Jehan Daruvala, Arjun Maini, Vishnu Prasad, Raj Bharath have all made India proud at international levels in top championships around the world.
The PresentThree F1 races have been held in BIC circuit including the one held last year, The interest of media and people at large has been phenomenal to say the least. The sport has positioned itself as the next big thing in India, It will not be incorrect to say that after cricket motorsports has become the most followed sport in India.
The present time for motorsport in India is at a place where 360* growth is happening at a fast pace. The number of young drivers lining up for a seat in racing events have gone up, The number of local events have also gone up drastically. The companies are looking at the possibility of brand association with motorsport with a renewed interest. The number of audiences coming to watch the racing events have also seen an upsurge.
With the growing interest and consistent awareness drive through all possible means the number of TV viewers have also seen an upswing. The dominant centers of the past have been Coimbatore and Chennai. But now the seat is steadily moving towards the capital.

racing weekend is done on Star Sports 4 in 30 minutes capsule format.
• Each round is split into 3 capsules and each capsule is telecast within 30 days of the weekend and is shown multiple times mostly on the weekends.

The racing weekend is covered in a lot of regional news channel as well as mainline news channel, The recently concluded season was prominently covered on Times now with dedicated feature on it
