AAU Tour July 2014 Itinerary
Overview About AUSA Hoops
AUSA Hoops is a basketball services company based in Sydney that facilitates Australian basketball players’ desire to play college basketball in the US. AUSA Hoops offers a range of services including scouting and development camps, AAU Tours to the US, a news service and personal basketball training services. AUSA Hoops is focused on creating real opportunities for Australian basketballers to play college basketball in the US. On this tour, we do not guarantee anything other than the opportunity to play in front of hundreds of coaches to earn a scholarship, which can be worth up to $200,000.
AAU Tour July 2014 Itinerary Why the AUSA Hoops AAU Tour? AAU is without question the best time and place to play in front of college coaches to compete for a college scholarship. College coaches use the July AAU season as the time of year that is specifically designated for recruiting players. From August to April, college coaches are busy coaching their own team, then in the American summer, college coaches travel the country attending AAU events as they search for members of their next team. The height of the AAU season is in July, which is the best time to compete for a college scholarship.
AUSA Hoops is providing a 22-‐day tour from Australia to the US that is designed specifically
for Australian high school basketball players who want to play college basketball. The goal of the tour is to give players the best opportunity to play in front of college coaches at AAU basketball tournaments. The players on the tour will play against some of America’s best young basketball talent while being coached by a current American prep school coach.
AAU Tour July 2014 Itinerary What is offered? The tour begins with a 9-‐day training camp led by elite American coaches. Players will go through intense skill development sessions along with team practices to prepare for the AAU tournaments. Players will be housed on the La Lumiere on-‐campus dorm facilities during the training camp.
At the end of the training camp, the teams will play in multiple NCAA Certified AAU tournaments. In 2014, the AUSA Hoops team played in the Elite Academic Showcase, the Chicago Hoops Summer Spring, and NY2LA’s Summer Jam. These tournaments are attended by HUNDREDS of college coaches from all levels of college. The 2015 Tour team will play in a minimum of 3 NCAA certified events, which will likely be the same three events as the 2014 Tour.
We are aware that many of the players on our tour will be entering their HSC Trials soon after they return from this tour. If players are in Year 12, they will attend daily study sessions that will be supervised in the La Lumiere school library.
Who is the AUSA Hoops AAU Tour for? In 2015, AUSA Hoops is planning to take over multiple teams. AAU tournaments offer divisions for multiple age groups, and our teams will be divided by age.
Year 11 students will compete in the junior age group, while year 12 and recently graduated students will compete in the senior age group. Year 10 students interested in participating in the AAU Tour will be assessed on a case-‐by-‐case basis. We plan to take a girl’s team on the 2015 tour. The AAU Tour is ideal for players in year 11 or year 12, or those who have just graduated. Players in year 12 should confirm with their school that the AAU Tour would not interfere with their school requirements. To tryout for this tour, players must attend an AUSA Hoops Scouting & Development camp. This selection process is important to ensure that players are sorted into teams based on age and skill level.
