A A FP LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

April 23–25, 2020 (preconference April 22) • Kansas City, MO

As our health care system continues to

evolve, it has become pertinent that the

backbone of this specialty is spearheaded

by the very leaders that are on the frontlines

each and every day. You are the future of

family medicine, and it is time to RE:define,

RE:imagine, and RE:think just what that

means in a leadership role.

Take the time to collaborate with your peers

and colleagues and learn from each other

just how you can be the difference in your

patients’ lives, your communities, and the

specialty. With you leading the way in family

medicine, we know anything is possible.

Choose one of two tracks

Enjoy three-plus days to network and share

ideas about what leadership means to you

with your peers and AAFP leadership in a

high-energy environment.

NCCL NCCL 2020 at a GlanceWEDNESDAYTurn three days of dynamic leadership development into four by joining your peers in a community service project with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. The Clubs serve as a leader in youth development programming and advocacy efforts for young people across Kansas City’s toughest neighborhoods. For over a century, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City have sustained their presence as a beacon of hope, stability, and opportunity for the youth of the community who need them the most. This session is optional and requires a separate registration fee that covers transportation costs and a t-shirt.

THURSDAYThe First-Time Attendee Orientation and Resolution Overview provides an overview of the conference. Learn relevant takeaways from NCCL leaders. Familiarize or reacquaint yourself with resolution writing. Hear what resolutions are, how resolutions should be crafted, and what the AAFP does with resolutions. First-time attendees are highly encouraged to attend this session to get the most from your conference experience. All other attendees are welcome to assist with this interactive session.

Constituency Discussion Groups and Resolution Writing offer opportunities to talk with your colleagues about the issues that affect you, your patients, your community, and the specialty of family medicine. Come together to craft resolutions and ask the AAFP for action. Attendees also have the opportunity to look at resolutions from 2019 and review the actions taken.

Learn about Making Your Indelible Mark – Your Legacy with plenary speaker Peggy Williams. You will begin to clarify and articulate your Indelible Mark™ that reflects your aspiration to make an enduring impact in your organization, the healthcare industry, or, perhaps, the world.

Attend leadership sessions including Creating an Effective Social Media Presence. AAFP member leaders Natasha Bhuyan, MD, and Michael Sevilla, MD, FAAFP, share best practices and techniques to take your social media presence to the next level of advocacy.

Learn about Thriving Beyond the Persistent Assaults of Microaggressions and Implicit Bias with Nicole Christian-Brathwaite, MD.

FRIDAYReference Committees allow constituencies to testify and defend resolutions written together.

Hear from fellow family physician Lisa Herbert, MD, FAAFP, on Breaking the Glass Ceiling of Physician Leadership, and Trinidad Tellez, MD, on how to Improve Your Capacity to Provide Quality Care and Services to All: An Introduction to the Culturally Effective Organizations Framework.

SATURDAYThe Business Session allows attendees from all five constituencies to debate resolutions from each reference committee and take action.
