Energy Outlook

Marshall Adkins Managing Director, Director of Energy Research - Oilfield Services(Raymond James)

Marshall Adkins focuses on oilfield services and products, in addition to leading the RJ energy research team. He and his group have won a number of honors for stock-picking abilities over the past fifteen years. Additionally, his group is well known for their deep insight into oil and gas fundamentals. Prior to joining Raymond James in 1995, he spent 10 years in the oilfield services industry as a project manager, corporate financial analyst, sales manager, and engineer. He holds a B.S. degree in petroleum engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Warren R. Farmer Deepwater Planning Engineer (Stone Energy Corporation) AADE National President

Warren R. “Rick” Farmer IV is currently employed by Stone Energy Corporation as a Deepwater Planning Engineer. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1982, with a BS in Petroleum Engineering and began his career with UNOCAL. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at ULL teaching classes in Special Design in Introduction to Subsea Engineering and Advanced Wellbore Construction. He has lectured at LSU, ULL, UNO, and Nichols State and has taught classes in the Engineering Department of UNO. Rick has served in many board positions and currently serves as the National President of the American Association of Drilling Engineers. He has received numerous prestigious honors throughout his career including Distinguished Fellow of the Bagley College of Engineering and the Meritorious Service Award from the API, Delta Chapter. Rick and his wife Patsy live in Youngsville, LA.with their three beautiful daughters.

Preserving Well Integrity During Fracturing

George E. KingGlobal Technology Distinguished Engineering Advisor (Apache Corp)

George is a Registered Professional Engineer in both Oklahoma and Texas with over 45 years of oilfield experience since starting with Amoco Production Research in 1971. Technical accomplishments include 75 technical papers, a book on completions and workovers, Distinguished Lecturer on foam fracturing for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) during 1985-86, and a Completions Course Lecturer on horizontal wells for the SPE Short Course series in 1999. Industry positions held include: Technical Chairman of the 1992 SPE Annual Fall Meeting, past API subcommittee chair on perforating, eleven years as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tulsa (teaching senior level and graduate credit well completions and fracturing courses at night), and numerous SPE committees on forums, paper selection committees and Applied Technology workshops. Awards include the Amoco Vice President’s Award for technology from Amoco in 1997, API service award in 1994, the 2004 SPE Production Operations Award and the 2012 Engineer of the Year award from the Houston Region of the Society of Professional Engineers.

The New Regulatory Landscape – Finding Common Ground

Lance Labiche President (J. Connor Consulting, Inc.)

Lance is a Registered Professional Engineer with 15 years of experience in the exploration and production side of the oil and gas industry. As the President of J Connor Consulting (JCC), Lance oversees their engineering, regulatory, plans, and SEMS programs. Prior to joining JCC, Lance worked for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (formerly MMS) for 12 years. He started working for MMS in 2002 as a Field Engineer in the New Orleans District Office where he worked for 4 years in drilling and workovers. Lance then spent 2 years working as a Civil Penalty Reviewing Officer in the Office of Safety Management. From there he served as the Senior Drilling Engineer in the Technical Assessment and Operations Support Section. In 2011, Lance became Chief of the District Operations Support Section where he was responsible for the review and approval of all Well Containment Screening Tools, all BOP control system drawings, managing the Idle Iron Program as well as implementing all policies regarding drilling, completions, workovers, and abandonments. Lance has a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Louisiana State University.
