PREFACE

Statistical are important and essential for national administration and

planning purposes as they are normally used by administrators in making decisions

and formulating plans and policies for resolving relevant problems. Having accurate

and up-to-date statistics and information will enable planners to develop a proper

plan for implementation in response to the actual problems. Therefore, to provide

quality data for decision-making and other purposes, the Health Information Cluster of

the Strategy and Planning Division has prepared this report on Summary of Important

Statistics, including those generated by the Ministry of Public Health and other

agencies, on population and health and socio- economic status for dissemination

in Thai and English. In this year’ s report, statistics on various sectors of other

ASEAN Member States have been added for use by relevant public and private

agencies within the country and overseas.
