Sr. Maram Dawwas 5th-7th Grade Math Teacher Al-Salalmo Alikom wa Rahmato Allah wa Barakatoh, My name is Maram Sabbah Dawwas, I am the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade mathematics teacher. I got my education certificate/ specialized in Mathematics from Jordan. I also got my bachelor’s degree in pure Mathematics from the University of Michigan last year. My 6th grade students were so excited about their field trip to the farm. I took that excitement as an opportunity to motivate their awareness of the importance of time, so I a had them estimate the time was spent in each station during the field trip and fill a time table. I meant for assignment to be not only mathematically educational, but also to be a time value lesson. My beautiful 6th grade students were so excited about the assignment and they surprised me by making very interesting conclusions about the time management. The field trip time pie graphs they made were accurate, artistic, and beautiful, Ma shaa Allah.

Update from Al-Furqan PTO The Al-Furqan PTO held its kick-off meeting on Wednesday morning, Oct. 31. There was a welcome breakfast, icebreakers, and an introduction to the impact of PTO on school atmosphere, teachers, and students. About 12 parents and staff were present at the first PTO meeting. Items discussed were: 1. Electing PTO officers 2. Most convenient meeting times: 2 p.m. and 9 a.m. on late-start days 3. Ideas for PTO projects: fundraising, helping with electives, sponsoring activity days for school, portable library, quarterly Father/Child Activity Night, and more 4. Parental involvement in the upcoming fundraising dinner: Parent help is urgently needed in preparing for fundraiser: helping kids rehearse, selling tickets and promoting the event among family and friends, and volunteering in the days before and during the event.

We would like to thank the two families who volunteered to pay for the scarves needed for female students at the fundraiser. Involvement in PTO meetings and activities shows students that their home and school are connected. Participation in the PTO helps improve students' grades and behavior, boosts teachers' morale, and improves the overall educational experience for families and school staff. We invite all of you to attend the PTO meetings and events. The parent with the best meeting attendance record will receive a prize at the end of the year! Sincerely, Sr. Maha Ezzeddine & Sr. May Sabah Your PTO officers
