जया आज ब त ख़ुश थी। आज बड़ा मेला है।

"ज द च लए अ मी!" जया ने अ मी का प ा ख चते ए कहा।

अ मी मु कुरा , वह जया क बेस ी का असली कारण जानती थ ।

"बड़ा मेला पूरे दन रहेगा जया! वह कह भागा नह जा रहा है," अ मी बोली।

"पर रानी चली जाएगी, अ मी। उसे आज दोपहर एक शाद म जाना है।"

अ मी ज़ोर से हँस और बोली, "मुझे पता था तुम दोन शैतान क ना नय ने चुपके से यह तय कर लया होगा।"

पाँच बरस क रानी जया के पड़ोस म रहतीहै। वह जया क ख़ास दो त है।

जया सोचने लगी क अ मी को यह राज़ कैसेपता चला?

एक शरारत भरी मु कान देते ए अ मी नेकहा, "अ मी का जा !"

रानी क अ मा के साथ अ मी भी बड़ा मेलाघूमने का लान बना चुक थी, ले कन यह बातउ ह ने जया को नह बताई। आ खर अ मयके भी कुछ राज़ होते ह!

बड़ा मेला हमेशा क तरह कमाल का था। पर रानी क आँख और नाक बस एक ही चीज़ ढँूढ रहीथ ।

" जया द द , यहाँ... कतनी ब ढ़या महक आ रही है।" रानी चहक , "रफ़ क चाचा क मश र मटनबरयानी और गलुाब जामुन! म तो ब...ड़ी..... लेट भर के बरयानी खाऊँगी!"

जया हँस पड़ी। "ब...ड़ी..... लेट भर के? बड़ी लेट भर के बरयानी तेरे न हे से पेट म आएगी कैसे?"

जया ने अपने पैसे गने। उसके पास बस एकलेट बरयानी और एक लेट गलुाब जामुन

खरीदने लायक पैसे थे। रानी क बेस ीदेखकर जया का मन नह आ क उसे कमपैस के बारे म बताए।

कुछ सोच कर वह बोली, "एक काम करते हरानी! आज हम एक बटा दो बरयानी औरएक बटा दो गलुाब जामुन खाते ह!"

"एक बटा दो! वह या होता है, द द ?"

"अभी पता चल जाएगा।"

जया पैसे देते ए बोली, "एक लेट मश रबरयानी द जए, रफ़ क चाचा।

"एक लेट?" रानी का चेहरा लटक गया,"मुझे लगा हम दोन एक-एक लेट पूरीखाएगँे।"

"एक बटा दो म यादा मज़ा है।" जया बोली।

"सही बात!" रफ़ क चाचा बरयानी क लेटथमाते बोले।

मटन के एक बड़े टुकड़े के दो ह से करकेउ ह ने चावल से भरी थाली पर रख दए। फरएक बड़े कटोरे म उ ह ने गलुाब जामुन डाले -चार क जगह छ:।

"शु या रफ़ क चाचा," जया उ ह देख करमु कुराई।

रानी बोली, "और एक बटा दो कहाँ है?"

मटन का एक टुकड़ा रानी क थाली म और सरा अपनी थाली म रखकर जया बोली, "यह लो एकबटा दो। एक बटा दो मतलब क एक चीज़ को दो बराबर ह स म बाँट देना।"

"अ छा तरीका है द द ," रानी बोली। "पर हम यह सब कैसे बाँटगे?"

जया मु कुराई, "एक लेट बरयानी को दो बराबर ह स म बाँटने के लए हम थाली के बीच -बीचएक लक र खीचगे। एक तु हारा ह सा और एक मेरा। ऐसे, एक बटा दो, बलकुल एक समान।

पाँच मनट म दोन लड़ कय क थाली से बरयानी सफाचट थी।

"वाह, मज़ा आ गया।" रानी ने कहा।

"अब गलुाब जामुन भी एक बटा दो कर? या कहती हो?" जया ने पूछा।

" बलकुल, पर द द इस बार लक र म ख चूँगी!" रानी ने कहते ए च मच उठाया।

उसने च मच से चाशनी को काटते ए लक र बनाने क को शश क , पर जब भी वह च मच उठाती,गलुाब जामुन फर कटोरी के बीच -बीच आ जाते।

बार-बार को शश करने के बाद भी जब वह गलुाब जामुन बाँट नह पाई तो नराश होकर जया सेबोली, "यह मुम कन नह द द । गलुाब जामुन को हम एक बटा दो नह कर सकते।"

जया हँस पड़ी। " बलकुल कर सकते है। बस गलुाब जामुन के लए थोड़ी अलग तरक ब लगानीहोगी।" जया बोली।

"हम एक गलुाब जामुन तु हारे लए नकाल लेते है," यह कह कर जया ने एक गलुाब जामुन रानीक कटोरी म रख दया। "और अब एक मेरी कटोरी म। इसी तरह एक च मच चाशनी तु हारी कटोरीम और एक चाशनी च मच मेरी कटोरी म।"

"अ छा, फर आगे या करगे?" रानी ने पूछा।

"हम फर से यही तरक ब दोहराएगँे।" जया बोली, " और ऐसा हम तब तक करगे जब तक सारेगलुाब जामुन और उनक चाशनी दो बराबर ह स म बँट ना जाए।"

" या म अब एक बटा दो कर सकती ँ?" रानी ने चहकते ए पूछा। "एक इधर, एक उधर और अब सारे गलुाब जामुन ख़ म। एक बटा दो!"

"इतनी ज द नह ।" जया ने कहा,"एक बटा दो का मतलब एक चीज़ को दो बराबर ह स म बाँटना। या तुम प का कह सकती हो क हमने गलुाबजामुन को दो बराबर ह स म बाँटा है?"

रानी ने ना म सर हला दया।

"चलो पता करते ह। पहले तुम अपने कटोरे म रखे गलुाब जामुन गनो और फर मेरे कटोरे म रखे गलुाब जामुन गनो," जया ने कहा।

"मेरे पास ह 1, 2, 3... तीन जामुन और द द आपके पास ह 1, 2, 3... तीन जामुन।" रानी ख़ुशी से उछलते ए बोली। "इसका मतलब हमने गलुाबजामुन दो बराबर ह स म बाँट दए! मतलब एक बटा दो! और द द हम इसम लक र भी नह ख चनी पड़ी।" जया हँस पड़ी। "सही कहा, दो बराबर ह स का एक भाग तु हे मले और एक भाग मुझे मला । एक बटा दो!"

"अरे वाह द द !" रानी बोली। "च लए अब हम गलुाब जामुन खाए।ँ"

दोन लड़ कय ने झट से वा द गलुाब जामुन अपने मुँह म भर लए।

"कहो लड़ कय , मज़ा आया मेले म?" रानी क अ मा ने पूछा।"हाँ अ मा!" रानी अपनी माँ के गले लगते ए बोली। "और मने एक के दो करना भी सीख लया।""एक के दो? वो या होता है भला?" अ मी हैरान हो ग ।

जया और रानी हँस पड़ । "कोई बात नह , अ मी," जया शरारत भरी मु कान देते ए बोली, "यह हमारा एक ख़ास राज़ है।"

दो त के साथ बाँटने के कुछ और तरीके -

*अगर रानी का दो त राजू भी जया और रानी के साथ बड़े मेले घूमने जाता तो या एक बटा दो काम आता?

बलकुल नह ! जया को एक अलग तरक ब लगानी होती जसे एक बटा तीन कहते है। एक बटा तीन मतलब एक चीज़ को तीन बराबर ह स मबाँटना।

* और मान ली जए क अ मी भी उनके साथ आत और जया के पास एक ही लेट बरयानी होती तब वह या करती?आसान है, जया बरयानी के चार बराबर ह से करती मतलब एक बटा चार। ग णत वषय म एक चीज़ को बराबर ह स म बाँटने क तरक ब कोभाग करना या भ न अंक कहते ह।

भ न अंक चीज़ को उ चत और बराबर ह स म बाँटने का एक ब त ब ढ़या तरीका है।

ग णत म:

- एक बटा दो भाग को अंको म 1/2 लखा जाता है और इसे 'आधा' भी कहा जाता है।- एक बटा तीन को अंको म 1/3 लखा जाता है और इसे 'एक- तहाई' कहा जाता है।- एक बटा चार को अंको म 1/4 लखा जाता है और 'एक चौथाई' या ‘एक पाव’ कहा जाता है।

* आप दोसा एक बटा दो म कैसे बाँटगे? आप चाक़ू से उसके बीच -बीच लक र बना कर काटगे या फर उसे एक इधर, एक उधर करकेबाँटगे?
