In Galveston County, PWA Docket No. Texas 1968-R, Galveston Causeway, i t being considered desirable to increase the height of earth approach and to increase the amount of protective sodding, over that provided f o r under t h i s Docket, and to permit the construction of more adequate surfacing; and i t being brought to a t ten t ion tha t the grade r a i s ing operation w i l l i n t e r f e r e w i t h the performance of the ex is t ing contract quanti t ies of sodding and temporary pavement; i t is herehy authorized that an agreement be made providing f o r the removal of the items of sodding and temporary pvement from the ex i s t i ng contract, and i t is hereby ordered tha t the ra is ing of grade and construction of sodded slope protect ion be provided fo r as a separate pro jec t , and the sum of $59,121.70 i s appropriated f o r said purpose, and tha t the sums i n the amount o f $20,850.00 now appropriated under th i s Docket fo r the items of sodding and temporary pavement be transferred i n conformance w i t h PWA requirements f rom the Special Account f o r the Galveston Causeway (J-206) to the State Highway Fund, and that proper surfacing of t h i s Docket and i t s necessary connections be provided when and as soon as the above work w i l l permit.

In Knox County, on Highway No. 222, i t i s ordered tha t an approp r i a t i o n be made f o r $8,000 to cover the cost of grading and drainage work extending from Munday west a distance of approximately 5 miles . Due to the extremely l i g h t work involved, i t i s ordered tha t th i s work be per formed through the Maintenance Div i s ion by day labor methods.
This order i s fu r the r conditioned upon an agreement by Knox Count; to secure a r ight-of-way f o r a minimum width of 120' on the section i n volved, and a f u r t h e r agreement to secure the r igh t -of -way on the remainder of t h i s highway in to Knox City on a locat ion approved by the State Highway Engineer a t such time as such r ight -of -way may be requested by th^ Department.

Whereas, the Commissioners' Court of Llano County has agreed by a resolution dated March 4, 1938 to secure a l l necessary r igh t -of -way on thej proposed d i rec t locat ion of Highway No. 29 extending from the Colorado *iver Bridge at the Llano-Burnet County l ine to the City of Llano,
Therefore, the State Highway Engineer i s di rected to proceed with surveys and preparation o f r ight -of-way deeds on t h i s route and Llano bounty i s requested to proceed w i t h the securing of the r ight -of -way i n accordance wi th t h e i r agreement; and
I t i s ordered that a State Highway be designated from a point on bhe approved looat ion of Highway No. 29 approximately 1.5 miles west of bhe Colorado #iver Bridge at the Llano-Burnet County l i ne and extending iorthwest along or near the shore l ine of Buchanan Lake to an intersect ion vi th the public road former ly known as Highway No. 29 at or near New Bluff] Son;; and
I t i s ordered that plans be prepared and bids be requested f o r ;he c obstruction of grading, drainage structures and surfacing on t h i s lesignation, the distance being approximately 8.1 mi les .
This order supersedes and cancels a l l previous orders or parts of >rders re la t ive t o Highway No. 29 between the Colorado ^ iver and the Ci ty >f Llano insofar as they may c o n f l i c t w i t h the provisions of th i s order.

Whereas, l a t e r the rout ing of t h i s road was changed so as not to need t h i s property acquired f o r highway purposes; and
by J. Whereas, t h i s r igh t -of -way was donated to the State of Texas

I t i s , therefore, ordered by the Commission tha t the Governor be requested t o execute a deed conveying th is land back to J . J . Wheat et a l , on condi t ion that a deed be executed by J. J . Wheat e t a l f o r land or. revised alignment of t h i s road, without cost to the State.
WHEREAS, i n Lynn County, Highway No. 84, between Tahoka and the Garza County l i n e , i t appears that r e l i e f laborers are available i n suff i c i e n t number to permit the construction of lake f i l l s and a port ion of the highway over new locat ion near the Garza County Line as a Force Account Re l i e f Pro jsc t , estimated to cost approximately $22,000.00; anc
WHEREAS, the completion of t h i s work, w i l l pe rmit the use of Highway No. 84 between Tahoka and the Garza County Line during wet weather; and
WHEREAS, P.W.A. funds are not available f o r ihe inauguration of an N.R.W.R. p ro jec t ;
IT IS THEREFORE ordered by the Commission that the construction of lake f i l l s and the por t ion of the highway over new locat ion near the Garza County Line be set up as a State-sponsored W.P.A. pro jec t (S.R.W.R 37, S e o t i o n 4) and that $13,012.00 State funds be appropriated to supplement W.P.A. funds.

In McLennan County, on Highway No. 2 at Brucevi l le , an appropriat i o n i s hereby made i n the amount of $3800 to cover the cost of surfacing on the approaches to the Brucevi l le Overpass, a t o t a l length of approximately 540'. Due to the small size of th is project and the t r a f f i c condition involved, i t is ordered that this work be performed through the Maintenance Div i s ion by day labor methods.

In Galveston County, P.W.A. Docket Texas 1968-R, Galveston Causeway, i n the matter of claim of the Austin Bridge Company f o r adjusted compensation due to subsidence of the "Dredged Embankment" of the East approach of the Causeway, f a r i n excess of what could have been reasonable-anticipated by the Contractor i n preparing his u n i t price b id , i t i s ordered by the Commission that payment i n the amount of $9,398.76 be made to the Austin Bridge Company as adjusted compensation.
This payment is based on the State assuming 50% of the cost, due to excessive subsidence, between the actual cost to the Sub-contractor plus 15% and the uni t bid price by Contractor.
