4. ARRANGE EQUIPMENT SO THAT ACCESS CLEARANCES INDICATED BY DRAWINGS, REQUIRED BY CODES,
OR RECOMMENDED BY MANUFACTURER ARE PROVIDED; WHICH EVER ARE MOST STRINGENT.
5. THOROUGHLY EXAMINE ALL AREAS WHERE EQUIPMENT, DUCTWORK, AND PIPING WILL BE INSTALLED
AND REPORT ANY CONDITION THAT PREVENTS THE PROPER INSTALLATION OF THE MECHANICAL WORK.
6. COMPLY WITH OREGON ENERGY EFFICIENCY SPECIALTY CODE SECTION 503.2.9 HVAC SYSTEM
COMPLETION. INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONSTRUCTION AND AS-BUILT DRAWINGS, PROJECT
MANUALS, AND SYSTEM BALANCING REPORTS.
7. ARRANGEMENT OF SYSTEMS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS IS DIAGRAMMATIC, AND INDICATES THE
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL WORK. ADJUST BOX LOCATIONS, BASED
ON FIELD MEASUREMENTS, TO AVOID INSTALLATION ABOVE DESKS. SITE CONDITIONS SHALL
DETERMINE THE ACTUAL ARRANGEMENT OF THE WORK. TAKE FIELD MEASUREMENTS BEFORE
PREPARING SHOP DRAWINGS, OBTAIN APPROVAL OF SHOP DRAWINGS BEFORE BEGINNING
FABRICATION. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCURACY OF DIMENSIONS AND LAYOUT. OVERHEAD PIPING AND

8. CLEAN AND PROTECT WORK FROM DAMAGE. RESTORE DAMAGED FINISHES. COVER ENDS OF PIPING
AND DUCTWORK NOT ACTIVELY BEING WORKED ON.
9. WHEN APPLICABLE, MODIFY AND EXTEND EXISTING SERVICE TO ACCOMMODATE NEW WORK.
RELOCATE EXISTING COMPONENTS AS REQUIRED FOR NEW SYSTEM. COORDINATE WITH BUILDING
MANAGEMENT.
10. CONCEAL PIPING AND DUCTWORK TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PRACTICAL.
11. DRAWINGS DO NOT SHOW ALL OFFSETS WHICH MAY BE REQUIRED. MAKE OFFSETS WITH FITTINGS
WITH AS SMALL ANGLE OF OFFSET AS POSSIBLE; DO NOT USE TURNING VANES UNLESS SPECIFICALLY

ENERGY CODE. IN ADDITION, PROVIDE SEAL CLASS A FOR ALL DUCTWORK.
3. THOROUGHLY CLEAN ALL DEBRIS FROM THE INSIDE OF ALL DUCTWORK AND PLENUMS. BLOW FREE ALL
SMALL PARTICLES OF RUBBISH AND DUST.
4. MECHANICAL DRAWINGS SHOW APPROXIMATE LOCATIONS FOR GRILLES AND DIFFUSERS. REFER TO
ARCHITECTURAL REFLECTED CEILING PLANS AND ELEVATIONS FOR EXACT LOCATIONS. AFTER SHOP
DRAWINGS ARE COMPLETED VERIFY EXACT LOCATION OF GRILLES AND DIFFUSERS IN THE FIELD.
ENSURE THAT DIFFUSER AND GRILLE FRAMES MATCH CEILING TYPES AND FINISH PRIOR TO ORDERING.
FIRE PROTECTION NOTES
1. MAKE FIELD MEASUREMENTS, COORDINATE WITH ALL OTHER WORK AND SHOW THE MODIFICATIONS
REQUIRED ON SHOP DRAWINGS.
2. MODIFY FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS TO ALLOW INSTALLATION OF DUCTWORK, OTHER PIPING, AND
ELECTRICAL WORK AS SHOWN ON APPROVED SHOP DRAWINGS. NEW ARRANGEMENT SHALL LOCATE
PIPING AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE.
3. PROVIDE A COMPLETE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM FOR THE ENTIRE PROJECT AREA.
4. FLOORS ARE CURRENTLY SERVED BY A COMPLETE AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM. PROVIDE NEW
SPRINKLER HEADS, BRANCH PIPING TO SUIT NEW PARTITIONS & REQUIREMENTS OF FIRE DEPARTMENT.
NEW HEADS SHALL BE LOCATED IN CENTER OF TILE.
ENERGY CODE MECHANICAL NOTES
1. THE TOTAL CAPACITY OF ALL COOLING EQUIPMENT WITHOUT ECONOMIZERS MUST BE LESS THAN 240 kBtu/h. THAT PORTION OF THE EQUIPMENT
SERVING DWELLING UNITS IS NOT INCLUDED IN DETERMINING THE TOTAL CAPACITY WITHOUT ECONOMIZER.
2. HEATING AND COOLING EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS CAPACITY DO NOT EXCEED THE LOADS CALCULATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 2014 OEESC SECTION
(503.2.1).
3. THE SUPPLY OF HEATING AND COOLING ENERGY TO EACH ZONE IS TO BE CONTROLLED BY INDIVIDUAL THERMOSTATIC CONTROLS THAT RESPOND TO
TEMPERATURE WITHIN THE ZONE.
4. ZONE THERMOSTATIC CONTROLS TO PROVIDE A TEMPERATURE RANGE OR DEADBAND OF AT LEAST 5°F (2.8°C) WITHIN WHICH THE SUPPLY OF HEATING
AND COOLING ENERGY TO THE ZONE AND CAPABLE OF BEING SHUT OFF OR REDUCED TO A MINIMUM.
5. EACH ZONE TO BE PROVIDED WITH THERMOSTATIC SETBACK CONTROLS THAT ARE CONTROLLED BY PROGRAMMABLE CONTROL SYSTEM.
6. BOTH OUTDOOR AIR SUPPLY AND EXHAUST ARE EQUIPPED WITH NOT LESS THAN CLASS I MOTORIZED DAMPERS. GRAVITY DAMPERS SHALL BE
PERMITTED FOR OUTSIDE AIR INTAKE OR EXHAUST AIRFLOWS OF 300 CFM OR LESS.
7. ZONES WITH SPECIAL PROCESS TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS AND/OR HUMIDITY REQUIREMENTS ARE SERVED BY SEPARATE AIR DISTRIBUTION
SYSTEMS FROM THOSE SERVING ZONES REQUIRING ONLY COMFORT CONDITIONS.
8. MECHANICAL VENTILATION IS PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 2014 OMSC. WHERE MECHANICAL VENTILATION IS PROVIDED, THE SYSTEM HAS THE
CAPABILITY TO REDUCE THE OUTDOOR AIR SUPPLY TO THE MINIMUM REQUIRED BY THE 2014 OMSC.
9. ALL LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE JOINTS, SEAMS AND CONNECTIONS OF LOW-PRESSURE SUPPLY AND RETURN DUCTS ARE TO BE SECURELY
FASTENED AND SEALED WITH WELDS, GASKETS, MASTICS (ADHESIVES), MASTIC - PLUS - EMBEDDED - FABRIC SYSTEMS OR TAPES INSTALLED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
EXCEPTION(S):
A. CONTINUOUSLY WELDED AND LOCKING-TYPE LONGITUDINAL JOINTS AND SEAMS ON DUCTS OPERATING AT STATIC PRESSURES LESS THAN 2
INCHES W.G. PRESSURE CLASSIFICATION.
10. ALL DUCTS AND PLENUMS DESIGNED TO OPERATE MEDIUM-PRESSURE ARE TO BE INSULATED AND SEALED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 503.2.7.
PRESSURE CLASSIFICATIONS SPECIFIC TO THE DUCT SYSTEM ARE CLEARLY INDICATED ON THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS.
11. DUCTS DESIGNED TO OPERATE AT HIGH-PRESSURE ARE INSULATED AND SEALED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION (503.2.7). IN ADDITION, DUCTS
