CGC blood is used to create realism and the sense of sudden death in this car crash. The Decent has features continuity errors that have been used, this doesn't’t effect the way in which the audience sees each scene In real time.
Slow drift away
This very slow drift away from the crash using a crane shot conveys a message that the accident has happened and we can’t go back. A range of close ups are used to deliver the bigger picture. This allows the audience to build the picture. Lighting is very effective as it shows the scene in daylight. The pace of the scene has slowed down dramatically and at the end it fades to black which shows the progression of time.
Transitions At the end of the clip the accident scene is faded to black this conveys to the audience that there is danger present and foreshadows what is yet to come next together with death.Transitions are also used to show the gradual time through each shot and how it changes. This entire scene has a fast pace through fast cut editing, transitions are used to end the message and making our imagination linger on. Fade in transitions are used to give a message of sudden progression through scenes. Transitions are used to move from one scene on to the next and the length of theses transitions are extremely quick this adds to the overall mood and often theses are used.
Fast cut editing
• The clip is edited in a fast cut manner to show the key scenes, this has been emphasised deliberately to create more effecting. The clip gradually comes to a steady pace which is very natural after the wide and close up shots, this implies a sense of action. The first part of the scene is about the sense of mortality and everyday conversation in the car but by the end of the first scene it drastically changes the mood and onscreen presence of the characters and camera cinematography that has been used. The second half of the scene forces the sense of tension which leads to death in the accident.
Creating meaning for the audienceStory Flow
• Editing in the Decent is very important as together with the camera work it creates that sense of despair and horror , each scene is edited in a way that explores characterisation.
• Editing is also important as in the scene it delivers the pace of the subject and how they move.
