ing question!
Mr. Wattam has been a teacher at CGF for many
years. Currently he teaches Grade 2/3. At the
end of June he will be retiring.
N&R: Did anyone inspire you to become a
teacher?
MrW: Yes, my dad. He was a teacher and my
grade 6 teacher Mr. Hunt.
N&R: Do you enjoy teaching?
MrW: Yes, very much. I enjoy seeing the happy
faces of my students when they learn something
new.
N&R: Do you like the kids you teach?
MrW: I’ve liked all the 1000 kids I’ve taught.
N&R: What is your favourite sport?
MrW: My favourite sport is hockey.
N&R: For any kids out there who want to become
teachers what would your words of advice be?
MrW: Follow your dreams!
N&R: What do you plan to do during retirement?
MrW: I’ve got lots of work to do around the
house. I want to build a cottage. I’d like to get a
motorcycle. And keep learning. Teaching has
been a wonderful life and a wonderful career.
(Psssst…..rumor has it that Mr. Wattam will be
returning to CGF occasionally as a supply
teacher. Yeah for us!)

Gymnastic is exercises devel-
oping or displaying physical
agility and coordination, that
includes bars, balance beam
and floor.
Gymnastic disciplines in-
clude: rhythmic gymnastics,
trampoline , Team Gym , tum-
bling , aerobic gymnastics
and acrobatic gymnastics.
Participants can include chil-
dren as young as 20 months
old doing kindergym and
kid’s gymnastics, recreational
gymnasts of age 5 and up,
competitive gymnast at vary-
ing levels of skill, and world
class athletes.
In an aerial routine, or any
form of tumbling, landing is
the final phase, following take
off and flight. This is a critical
skill in terms of execution in
competition scores, general
performance, and injury oc-
currence. Without the neces-
sary magnitude of energy
dissipation during impact, the
risk of sustaining injuries dur-
ing somersaulting increases.
These injuries commonly
occur at the lower extremities
and include: cartilage lesions,
ligament tears and bone
bruises/fractures.
I really enjoy Gymnastics. I
started doing gymnastics
when I was 7 years old. My
favourite is a pull over on the
poles because it’s really easy.
My favourite part about gym-
nastics is to compete with
other people and make new
friends. You should try out
Gymnastics too!

Lamborghini - Speed & Beauty by Nicholas Palozzi
Lamborghini is a car com-
pany founded in 1963 by
Ferruccio Lamborghini.
He started out building
tractors. In the early
1970’s they took a big “U”
turn and began making
awesome fast cars.
Lamborghini produced
many great models over
the years including cars
like the Diablo, the Coun-
tach, the Murcielago and
the Miura. Their newest
car is the Adventador. The
list price for these cars
start in the $400,000
range. That’s a lot of
money!
Most of the cars contain
Lamborghini’s famous and
big V12 engines. Almost
all Lambos reach a top
speed of 200mph(320km/
h). The new 6.5 litre V12 in
the Adventador produces
700 bhp and a top speed
of 215mph(350 km/h). The
company is now owned by
the Volkswagen group.

This year is one of the big-
gest years for an association
called the NBA (National
Basketball Association) be-
cause of all the new Ameri-
can and Canadian fans that
have made basketball their
new favourite sport.
One of the biggest reasons
is because of all the current
and new and talented stars
such as LeBron James, Kevin
Durant and Paul George.
Basketball started all the
way back in December
1891. It was invented by a
Canadian doctor named
James Naismith when he
needed to keep his gym
class active on a rainy day in
Boston.
The NBA was officially
started on June 6, 1946 as
the BAA (Basketball Associa-
tion of America). It was
founded by owners of the
major ice hockey arenas.
They wanted to bring more
sports associations to Amer-
ica. At this time there were
17 teams. Two of the original
teams still endure to this day
- the Boston Celtics and the
New York Knicks. Today
there are 30 teams from east
cost to west coast in America
and Canada.

I noticed a lot of stuff about Grace St.
School in the hallways on the first floor
of our school. So I wondered if Charles
G Fraser used to be called Grace St.
School. I looked for clues. I found a
plaque that talked about Grace St.
School’s history. It said that the school
was built and was then demolished. I
knew that Charles G. Fraser never got
demolished so I went to Ms. Silva to see
if she knew anything about Grace St.
School. She told me that Grace St.
School closed in 2000 and they gave us
their plaques and some art made by
students. So to answer the question…
No! Charles G Fraser did not used to
be called Grace St. School.
**Information about Grace St. School
originally opened on September 5th
1889. Additions were added in 1898
and 1908. Building was demolished in
the summer 1962. New building closed
in 2000.

BOOK REVIEW by Raymond Zhao The Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket
This book is about the
Baudelaire orphans and
how they followed this
man name Count Olaf.
Count Olaf wants the
Baudelaire fortune for
himself. The Baudelaire
children hide in the car
trunk and they follow
Count Olaf to the carnival
where Madame Lulu lives.
The Baudelaire children -
Violet, Sunny and Klaus
disguise themselves to
join the house of freaks in
the circus. Sunny pretends
to be a wolf baby and Vio-
let and Klaus pretend to
be a two- headed person.
They find out that Madame
Lulu is not a fortune teller
and that she has a lot of
newspapers under her
desk called an archive
library. Count Olaf gets
lions and wants the freaks
to be eaten by them. Vio-
let and Klaus are chosen
but Madame Lulu saves
them. Sadly, she gets
eaten by the tigers. Then
the three children join
Count Olaf and Esmé and
they go to the valley of
four Drafts. Here they ride
in a carriage attached to
the car but the rope snaps
and they’re on the edge of
a cliff. I like this book be-
cause it is adventurous
and exciting. I would rec-
ommend this book to peo-
ple who like exciting
books that are nice and
long.

I can sizzle like bacon,
I am made with an egg.
I have plenty of backbone but lack a
good leg.
I peel layers like onions
but still remain whole.
I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in
a hole.
What am I?
