What is social media?

• The term social media refers to web-based and mobile applications that allow individuals and organizations to create, engage, and share new user-generated content, in digital environments through multi-way communication.

• These tools tend to fall into two broad categories: those primarily intended for social networking, such as Facebook or Twitter, and those that are designed for sharing user-generated content such as blogs, YouTube, or Flickr.

Cons and pros of using Social networks in teaching

Cons :

-the dynamics of the users of the technology: Must be managed by someone who understands social media.

significant benefits and the most notable risks arise from the

democratizing nature of social media.
