INTEGRITY-THE MISSING LINK“ ”“The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them” (Proverbs 11:3)

Integrity is one of the most important values in life even though it is often overlooked. For some people the word “integrity” brings to mind an attitude of prudishness or narrow-mindedness, but to me it could be called “The missing link to powerful Christianity”. This is one area in which the Body of Christ can improve dramatically.

Many think that integrity has become outdated and old fashioned, but if we want to walk in the supernatural power of God we are going to have to learn to live lives of integrity. God wants to bless us, He wants to perform miracles in our lives, but can He trust us? We will only move into the deeper dimensions of what God has for us as we develop integrity. We cannot have “an excellent spirit” without it. When we have integrity in our lives our words and actions line-up. In other words, we have integrity when what we say and what we do are the same thing.

Integrity is all about what we do when nobody is watching us. The measure of a person’s real character is what they would do if they knew they could never be found out. Integrity cannot exist without honesty. People who have integrity have nothing to hide and nothing to fear. They are totally transparent. What you see is what you get. People often present an “image” of what they would like others to see them as; but image is what people think we are and integrity is who we really are.

Integrity produces credibility which in turn leads to goodwill and high esteem with those who know and trust us. As followers of Christ we need to be transparent, honest and credible just like Jesus. God bless you as you purpose to live a life of integrity.

“We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NCV)Here’s the secret to temptation: Don’t fight it. Just refocus. Whatever you resist persists.

Did you know that in the Bible not once are you told to resist temptation? We are told to resist the Devil and that’s a whole different issue. But the key to overcoming temptation is not to push back. It’s to change your focus.

Whatever gets your attention gets you. The battle for sin always starts in the mind. That’s why the Bible says in Psalm 119:6 “Thinking about your commands will keep me from doing some foolish thing.” (CEV) Why? Because if you’re thinking about God’s truth you’re not thinking about the dumb stuff you could be doing.

Have you ever looked over a cliff and felt like you were being drawn to jump off? Not like a temptation but like there was this force that was pulling you. It’s because whatever you focus on pulls you.

It’s true in every single area of life — good or bad. If you focus on godly things it’s going to pull you in that direction. If you focus on the stuff that’s at the movies and in magazines it’s going to pull you in that direction. Whatever you focus on gets your attention. Whatever gets your attention is going to get you.

The key is to just change your mind.Temptation always follows a predictable pattern: attention, arousal and action. Your mind gets hooked, your mind kicks in and then you act on it.

So you don’t fight a temptation; you just turn your mind to something else. “We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NCV)

The thing is, we’re not very good at capturing every thought and turning it to Christ because it takes lots of practice. You can’t always control your circumstances and you can’t even always control the way you feel. But you can control what you think about. That’s always your choice. And if you change the way you think it changes the way you feel and that will change the way you act.

We also ran a workshop for 100 Pastors, Educators, Government Workers and Community Leaders equipping them with resources and knowledge. We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the event. We pray that you will continue to stand for gender equality in your churches,workplaces,homes and cities.

Church is more than just coming together on Sunday. There are many ways you can get connected with your church family. Our WDC point is situated in the main foyer, opposite the Counselling Centre and near the entrance of the Rhema Bookshop. On visiting your connection point, you can find out more about leadership development, small group meetings, activities and outreaches in your area.

1. FIND OR INITIATE A SMALL GROUP - Life is not meant to be lived alone. Small Groups are a great way to grow spiritually, get to know other people and build relationships.2. LOVE IN ACTION (LIA) - Meets the needs of families in distress.3. HEART TO HEART - Outreach initiatives which impact the needy, homeless and schools in our communities.4. ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING INITIATIVE - Join us as we stand for justice through Anti-Human Trafficking endeavors.5. SUNSHINE COLLECTIVE WESTERN DISTRICT- For women of all ages who come together to celebrate each other. Join in purpose and cause, to advance the kingdom of God, while placing value on womanhood. This journey is loaded with fun. We meet quarterly to cheer each other on. 6. WE CARE - Support to individuals and families dealing with crisis (bereavement, divorce, trauma and parenting matters).7. BUSINESS GROUPS - A great way to connect with like-minded people.8. FINANCIAL FITNESS – Advice to members on debt counselling and debt rehabilitation.9. SERVE/VOLUNTEER – You can get involved in serving at our connexion point in any of the foyers or the hospitality lounge for first time visitors.
