Who We Are… Liberty Road Faith Fellowship is a Multi-denominational gathering of Christians who enjoy traditional worship services.

Where to Find Us…

We worship at 2734 Liberty Road. You can find us on the web at http://libertyroadfaithfellowship.org

We Gather for Fellowship Coffee/Donut Fellowship Time: 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. in room 6 Thank you for helping us keep our church clean and tidy by keeping all the food and beverages in room 6 (Hospitality room) on Sunday mornings.

We Gather for Bible Study The Living Faith Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m. in room 9. Scot Reeves, teacher. The Adult Bible Study meets at 10:00 a.m. in room 4. Bennie McWain, teacher.

A Word from the Pastor By Rev. Lisa V. Wood

1 Corinthians 2:11-13

For who among men knows

the thoughts of a man except

the spirit of the man which is in

him? Even so the thoughts of God

no one knows except the Spirit of

God. Now we have received, not

the spirit of the world, but the

Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us

by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human

wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with

spiritual words.

Someone misspoke. Someone else took offense. And still,

someone else took offense to the offended’s offense and oh, the fallout that

has fallen.

There certainly is a lot of anger out there, isn’t there? It seems

some people are just waiting for an opportunity to blast someone’s

indiscretion or careless statement all over social media. Others jump on

the bandwagon and opine their judgement. And, there are always those

who will take issue and seize the opportunity to vent their own pent-up

angst by playing devil’s advocate and vigorously opposing the antagonist.

Arguing beyond that of civil debate ensues; the exchanges become

downright shameful as each side seeks more to win the verbal battle – at

any cost - than to conduct respectful discussion and, just perhaps, consider

that another’s perspective just might broaden their own.

We Gather for Worship Sunday Worship: 11:00 a.m. Children’s Church: 11:15 a.m. In room 5. Our Nursery is located in room 2.

Voices and opinions are many. Strongly spoken positions on hot

button issues seem to be applauded while meekness is totally disregarded.

While the masses are yammering on in vehement rhetoric, we – as those

claiming to be followers of Jesus - have opportunities to show the grace

and mercy of our Lord by letting our actions (and sometimes our silence)

speak louder than words. A wise person once said, “You don’t have to

attend every argument you’re invited to.”

Let us be reminded of humility demonstrated by the young David

we find in I Samuel 24 and 26. He had already been anointed as God’s

chosen king of Israel, but King Saul was a jealous, power-hungry lunatic

who was “acting the fool.” David had two opportunities to get rid of the

king and assume his rightful throne, but he refused.

I am not saying that those in positions of leadership and power

should go unchallenged and without accountability. I’m simply calling for

a little Christ-like mercy and beholding of the beam in our own eyes.

Surely we can extend grace in the name of Jesus. It is God’s grace that

covers a multitude of sins, and each of us can add our own to that

multitudinous amount.

As those who receive and extend grace, we brand ourselves as

people who offer an emotional and spiritual sanctuary to folks who’ve been

persecuted, publically humiliated, and disenchanted. As re-presenters of

God, and members of Liberty Road Faith Fellowship, let us extend to

others the same respect and regard that we seek, not for our own sakes, but

for the sake of the One who calls us into his kindom.

Shalom,

Updating our Campus

The Building, Property, and Asset Management Committee has

received $1,000 from an anonymous donor to build up a savings fund

for major renovations. The committee is in the process of evaluating

our campus and developing a list of future projects and estimated

costs. This list will be made available to the congregation upon request.

Meantime, if you are interested in making a contribution to this “nest

egg” any and all amounts are welcomed.

What is LRFF?

Hopefully lots

of people will

stop and ask you

this question

when you

proudly display

our new decal

on your car. The

decals are

located on the

information

table in the foyer. The black/white ovals are similar to the ones you see

in beach shops and come with either the traditional adhesive backing or

the newer static cling front. Your choice. Take one. Display with

pride. Drop a few dollars in the donation basket to help cover the

expense, then pray that God will give you an opportunity to invite

someone to church.

Run from Temptation! By Anne Graham Lotz

Flee . . . evil desires . . .and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and

peace. 2 Timothy 2:22, NIV

Eve became dissatisfied with God’s will when Satan was able to focus

her attention on the one thing God had said she could not have – the

forbidden fruit. The temptation that confronted Eve intensified because

she tolerated it by actually talking to the Serpent about it.

But the basic problem was not what she said; it was that she said

anything at all! As she conversed with the Serpent she got into deeper

trouble, because he responded, “You will not surely die” (Genesis 3:4,

NIV). That was an absolute, deliberate contradiction of what God did

say! Eve was confronted with Satan’s word against God’s Word. Who

would she choose to believe?

Jesus said we are to cut temptation out of our lives by severing

ourselves from whatever is causing us to be tempted. (Matthew 5:29-30)

The apostle Paul said we should run from it. Nowhere in the Bible

does it say we are to talk about it! Unless we do our talking with the

Lord. So . . . cut it out! And pray while you run from temptation!

Faith from the Front Porch

By Jackie Bondurant

You shall have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3

Sitting on the front porch after enjoying a wonderful supper and

cleaning up the dishes, I am once again reminded of Brother Lawrence,

the monk who communicated with God while doing his daily chores –

like washing dishes. What better time to talk with our Lord than when

we are about ordinary, nonspiritual tasks. A minister’s wife once

shared that every morning she would go into the living room and sit in a

wingback chair. Then Jesus would come and sit in the other wingback.

Together they prayed and prepared for the coming day. A visiting

minister, sharing about his daily devotions, spoke of rising early in the

morning and building a fire in the wood-burning stove. His kindling

was the junk mail delivered the day before. By the time he read the

day’s scriptures and said his prayers, the fire was dying down. God is

everywhere waiting on us to join him.
