Dear Students,

Greeting for HOLI & Women’s Day

The celebration of HOLI festival is over and hectic season of workload begins for students and

members also. There are only 40 days for May 2017 examinations and so much pressure on

students who appear in this examination. So let’s start your study in a very productive manner.

Don’t keep your work for tomorrow because who knows tomorrow may come or not. You may not

get success overnight but if you follow the rules and make it into the habit then definitely you will

become successful. So set your goal and make own rules and follow it strictly only for remaining

days of preparation. I would like to share some useful tips for revision which were followed by me

during my examination as under:-

1. First of all see carefully the syllabus of subject from institute subject material and strictly

follow it.

2. Always prefer Institute study materials (Latest) for theory Papers because study material is

crux of so many books on that subject. It helps to improve your presentation skill also.

3. Make a note of key points only in theory subject and try to memorize the contents during

the revision of key points.

4. In Practical papers only practice can make you perfect. For last hour quick revision in

practical paper note down only key concept of each different question.

5. Make your own study plan as per your capacity and routine for 30 days to complete your

revision and try to strictly follow it.

Always remember when you got success in examination you forgot your 40 days hardship

during preparation.

All the best

Regards CA Manglesh Kumar Pandey (Chairman, CICASA Bilaspur Branch of ICAI)

CHANDA KOCCHAR, ICICI Bank CEO, recently made it to the Fortune list of 25 most powerful

women in the Asia-Pacific region, and stands first among other Indian women

We all know that nobody gets everything in their life, but what about those who get

nothing from birth till death. They are none other than women of our country, who plays

vital role of various characters in our life. Now there is no doubt women have come a long

way globally to gain equal rights to their male counterparts in different facets of society.

Women have had to struggle a lot more to push society as a whole out of their old ways of

thinking to realize the crucial roles women can and do play in helping building democratic

systems and sustainable economies.

There is no tool for development in the country more effective than

women empowerment. Women empowerment means emancipation of women from the

vicious grips of social, economical, political, caste and gender-based discrimination. It

means granting women the freedom to make life choices. There is no denying the fact that

women in India have made a considerable progress in almost seven decades of

Independence, but they still have to struggle against many handicaps and social evils in the

male-dominated society.

Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest sons of India, quoted that, “There is no chance

for the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved, It is not possible

for a bird to fly on only one wing.” Therefore, the inclusion of “Women Empowerment’ as

one of the prime goals in the eight Millennium Development Goals underscores the

relevance of this fact. Thus, in order to achieve the status of a developed country, India needs

to transform its colossal women force into an effective human resource and this is possible

only through the empowerment of women.

The normal representation of Indian women is that of a loving mother, a

dutiful wife, an obedient daughter and someone who stays at home, completes all the chores

at home, is an all-forgiving figure and is selfless. But the truth is that with time, these women

have transgressed from being a nobody lost in the crowd to a somebody who people revere

and respect; someone with a name and a designation that is more than just a relationship tag

.“Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to

understanding the problems of running a country.”

ARUNDHATI BHATTACHARYA, an Indian banker, was the first woman to become the chairperson of the

State Bank of India (SBI). She has also been featured in the Forbes Most Powerful Women list in the 36th slot.

The Central Government Sponsored Schemes For Women Empowerment Schemes such as

“Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” Scheme, One Stop Centre Scheme, Women Helpline Scheme,

UJJAWALA : A Comprehensive Scheme for Prevention of trafficking and Rescue,

Rehabilitation and Re-integration of Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual

Exploitation, Working Women Hostel, etc.

Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about

changing the way the world perceives that strength." This liberalization of women in this

country is not a recent activity; it had started way back when ladies like the Rani of Jhansi,

PritilataWaddedar, Usha Mehta and Sarojini Naidu toiled sweat and blood with others of the

same league to free India.

There are several ladies who have found a place in the sun in fields of science, music, dance,

painting, literature, sports, fashion, beauty and entertainment. Names like Mallika Sarabhai,

IndraNooyi, Kalpana Chawla, Arundhati Ray, Shehnaz Hussain, Mira Nair, Sania Mirza,

Aishwarya Rai, Anoushka Shankar, SonalMansingh, GurinderChaddha and JhumpaLahiri so

prominent in the international horizon that it is a no brainier that these women are not

typecasts. Indian women have woken up to a whole new world of education and

enlightenment and that is what has given them the strength to evolve and become self-

sufficient. They are not just famous; they are inspirations to hundreds of women out there.

“ABOVE ALL BE THE HEROINES OF YOUR LIFE, NOT

THE VICTIM”.

KALPANA CHAWLA was the first Indian woman to go to space. She passed away in the infamous Columbia disaster in 2003 when the space shuttle disintegrated over Texas while re-entering the earth's atmosphere.

For our profession; there are three broad internal factors i.e. Self, Clients and Staff. And

there are three external variables i.e. Ever-changing laws, Infrastructure and Authorities.

Proper balance between all the variables is needed. Opportunity at one time may convert

into threat if preparation is not according to the desired level and threat may be converted

into an opportunity if extraordinary efforts are made.

1. Strength

1. Practical knowledge and theory which is unique in this study/course which no other

course can give including MBAs

2. Exposure to various kinds of work and industries on account of being part of the

team on internal audit and statutory audit.

3. Having the unique experience of meeting deadline on various levels at right at the

most wanted time in a person’s life.

4. Good interaction with peer group and thereby leadership qualities are inculcated in a

person’s system.

2. Weakness

1. Volume of study is too much when compared to other courses with hours at the

disposal of a student is very much limited after attending to office for practical

training.

2. General management and communication program should be made compulsory at

the beginner’s level. So that the students can implement and enjoy the fruits of such

GMC during the period of training itself rather at the end of the session of being a

student of CA course.

3. Most of the students complain that they are at the mercy of the employers.

4. Other Courses are fast track which is not the case in CA studies because of the

uncertainty of ultimate success in the examination.

DURGA SHAKTI NAGPAL, An IAS officer in the UP cadre is posted as the joint magistrate

of Kanpur. She came into public view when she launched an aggressive anti-corruption campaign in GautamBudh Nagar.

3. Opportunities

1. If a person clears with all the weakness in the system, he is the best in the world

against anybody. Nothing would be difficult in the world. Brett Lee is no threat for

him, so too shoaibakhtar.

2. Sky high would be the opportunities. Sky is the limit.

3. He need not confine himself to the traditional accounting and audit; he can do the

best in other areas like insurance, mutual funds, information technology, BPOs.

4. Person learning from his experience would be more composed and a good manager

than a learned from school and studies.

4. Threats

1. MBAs from reputed institutions have a better edge over CAs in the job market not

because they have studied something better, but only the cream of the society join

through competitive common entrance examination.

2. The syllabus requiring frequent changes to the latest changes of the industry which

will place our course on the back foot.

3. Some of the other courses openly prints their literature that they are rated better than

our CA course in terms of syllabus dynamics to the changing environment. This

needs to be refused not by taking legal action but only by making the study material

user friendly.

4. If threats are not taken note of at the right time and when no remedial actions are

taken, let us tell you that many are there to take over our superiority and take over

our much treasured pride.
