A WECO Profi t-S ha ri n g

Congratulations from President Pfaff' I ha\"e just been advised by the auditof'l lhat the eaminp un

der the A WECO Savings and Profit Sharinl Trust for the put year (12 months ended October 31, 1953) amount to $326..2.00. Thi.s sum will be paid prompUy to the Corporate Trustee, Northem Trust Company, Chicago for the exclusive benefit of employee participants in the tru.st.

The 1953 Profit-Sharing earnings are exeeptiona.Uy good considering all the business circumstances we had to deal with and I hasten to congratulate each and every employee for this fine accompll.shmt. It Is especially aigniftcant and pleasing that th steel ahot operationJ in Plant 2 helped importantly lO make the year a auul one.

There have been negative foN\1 about the future of business. aome of th rather peuimiltie, but the A WECO management dOH not Jhare such views. We think AWECO'sopportunilies

are •• great, even greater, Ulan they have ever been. The statement I made at the beginning of the past year appll just as much to

our new business year that began November 1, 1953. For that reason I am quoting the statement substituting only the year 1954 for 19M:

"I wlah It were J)OMibk- co loot lnc.o a tal ball and .-e wbl.t kind of a :rear A WECO aboukl Mve in 1164 or tNt I c:ouJd rel7 on the eovrw buatnelll _,. take and U. wMt.Mr the trend will be t'Ofltlaued inflation or drflatian.

'1"he onb" NCit'eS phi I know is co alwa.JS, every da7, do the bHt )'OU Qn with wbl.t ,-ou h.lft and make the mwt of ,-our opportunlllee. "In A WECO we have many opPOI1unltln to broaden our •l.f:btt •nd to Wle our tal· tnu.. Keepln1 busy and ronllnulnr our healthy c:rowth are only natunl resulta that come from reeocnlzi our opportunitlH •nd tumlna thtm Into more bu•tnns and more profits which. wllh the help of all of )'OU. we thaU HNlnly rontinue to try to do In 1»4."'

With the partnership incentive provided by the A WECO Trust to help ourselvu by blping the Company, I am conf\dent that A WECO'• future will continue to pleue au of us.

My appredation to all for their loyalty and another exceUent performance and with sincere good wishes to you and your dar onet for Chriat:mu and New Year, lam
