New Group Committee Member Online Training The current online training is called “My Learning Path” and it is available through the David Huestis Learning Centre. This training is broken down into modules which have been divided into 10-30 minute sessions so you can take them at your convenience. When you first open My Learning Path, you will be asked if you are a “new” or “returning” scouter. If you have already taken training through the David Huestis Learning centre, please be sure to click that you are a “returning” scouter – this way, the program will give you credit for courses that you have already completed. In order to complete the initial training requirements you must complete some online training. Initially, you only need to complete one location, titled Scouting Fundamentals. If you are a section scouter, you may have already completed this training. Scouting Fundamentals is your introduction to safe, fun programming. It takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete. Included in this section is Child and Youth Safety (or RESPECT training) and Accessibility training. Your myscouts profile will update within 24 hours to show that you have completed this training.

The current online training is called “My Learning Path” and it is available through the David Huestis Learning Centre. This training is broken down into modules which have been divided into 10-30 minute sessions so you can take them at your convenience.

When you first open My Learning Path, you will be asked if you are a “new” or “returning” scouter. In order to complete the initial training requirements you must complete some online training. Initially, you only need to complete one location, titled Scouting Fundamentals. If you are a section scouter, you may have already completed this training.

You will see several other locations on the map. If you are also a section scouter, you may have already completed some of this training. As a group committee scouter, you only need to take Supporting the Program in addition to Scouting Fundamentals.

Supporting the Program is the new Group Committee training, and can be completed within your first year on the group committee. It takes approximately 6 hours to complete. Within this module you will find “Volunteer Screening”. This course must be taken in order to interview new scouters for your group.

Please note: New Group Commissioners must take in-person Group Commissioner Woodbadge 1 within their first year in order to complete the required training. This online training is a prerequisite to the in-person course. To learn more about the next available in-person Group Commissioner Woodbadge 1, and other in-person training please visit the Voyageur training calendar at http://www.voyageur.scouts.ca:8080/c-calendar.asp
