Economic Analysis• Register for EC901 (Micro A and Macro A) if you have studied
typical undergraduate modules in Micro and Macro. • Take one of the B versions of Economic Analysis if:• You have strong Maths ability (>=60% on Maths and
Statistics Test 2)• You have a first class undergraduate degree• You intend to do a PhD

you are interested• BUT: numbers on these are capped, random selection
used in the case of excess demand! • If you are selected, you can’t then change your mind.
• WBS modules are challenging technical courses
• EC modules 62% average mark – WBS 54%
• To take these modules, you must have a strong mathematics and statistics/econometrics ability, and have studied relevant topics at UG level e.g. Asset Pricing/ Corporate Finance
• If you have done little maths or stats/econometrics before your MSc, please avoid these modules.
• If, by 18th October, you realise you have struggled/are struggling in Maths/Stats or the Term 1 core modules, do not sign up for, or do withdraw from, these modules.

Plagiarism• Assignments and dissertations will be checked through
Turnitin plagarism software.• Some examples of plagiarism are:• reproducing text or ideas from another published work
without using quotation marks or citing the source;• copying another student's work and pretending it is yours,
with or without their permission;• including sections from a piece of work you have submitted
previously at Warwick or another institution, unless this is permitted by the module leader via the assessment criteria.• downloading part or all of a document or ready-made essay
from an internet website and pretending it is your own work.
• Never copy and paste others’ words and then cite the source –you must use your own words, so we know you have understood what you have read. • If your notes include directly copied sections or phrases,
make sure you include a warning to yourself not to use these verbatim in your submitted work.
• Don’t use software at other institutions to check your work for plagiarism – it may inadvertently result in a plagiarism investigation.
• Always state the author, date and page number for direct quotations.
• Always state the author and date for paraphrased arguments or theories; others’ results or data
How to avoid plagiarism?
• Penalties are severe for plagiarism, collusion and other forms of cheating (e.g. cheating in tests or exams)
• Every year, despite these warnings, MSc students are found to have plagiarised, and receive mark penalties.

Assessment and Exams• Degree classification is based on your weighted award
average• ≥ 70.0% Distinction• 60.0-69.9% Merit• 50.0-59.9% Pass• ≤ 49.9 Fail
• This marking scale is typical for the UK, but might be unexpected for anyone who has studied abroad. Please become familiar with it.
• The pass mark for modules is 50%• The mean mark for our core modules is typically
around 62%. To obtain a mark of 70%, your work needs to be very good.
• Although we do use the full marking scale of 0% to 100%, in practice marks of above 80% are quite rare (<10%, typically).

• The minimum credit to be taken at MSc level is 180 CATS.
• You need to pass at least 150 CATS, including all core modules, and achieve at least 40% in any failed module(s).
• Progression to dissertation is not automatic: it depends on the number of failed exams.

• Economic Analysis is assessed by coursework (12%) and exams in January (88%)
• Econometrics A/B are assessed by coursework and an exam in May.• Maths & Statistics accounts for 10% of EC902/EC910
