Two days Meeting of PIMA Central Shura was held on 26 & 27 November at PIMA house Lahore. Dr. Muhammad Sahfqat Javed (President of PIMA) presided over the meeting. Elected members of the Shura, Directors of different projects, previous central president and some special invited persons were also part of the meeting. During the meeting, Dawat -o-Tarbiat, PIMA Relief, Medical Education, Female Branch, Medical and Tibbi Fiqhi Board, PIMA Publications, Consortium of Islamic Medical Colleges, Doctors Issues, International FIMA Affairs, Finance, Media Cell, POB, Website, Mega Pharmaceutical, PIMA Secretariat, Membership, Election, and Reports of Provisional Performance were taken into consideration. The Report of Central Convention 2012 was presented by Dr. Ahmed Suleman Ghaori while the Central Report was presented by general secretary Prof. Dr. Muhammah Iqbal khan. In this two days program, dars-e-Quran was delivered by Dr. Ata ur Rehman, Dr. Muhammad Qasam and Prof. Hafiz Ejaz Ahmed. Prophet’s preaching is based on the golden principles of the Holly Quran, a complete code of life. Islam is not just for a particular group of the human beings, it is a perfect and eternal guidance for everyone.

As a philosophy rooted in the principles of humanity, Islam takes a doctor as a selfless soul, driven by the passion to heal the wounds of woe-stricken people. A meeting of PIMA's central working committee was held 5 times during past 6 months at central office Islamabad, Dr. Shafqat Javaid (The president of PIMA) presided over these meetings. During the meetings decisions made by central shura were reviewed and working plans were also prepared for different projects.

PIMA held CME seminars in different cities at 16 places. In Punjab Faisalabad, Sargodha, DG khan and Gujranwala average 85 people took part in seminars. 3 seminars were held in Karachi and 1 each in Shikarpor and Kandh kot. In Azad Kashmir; Muzafarabd, Mirpur and Bhimber, CME programs were organized while two CME programs were held in Quetta and Peshawar. Purpose of these seminars was to build awareness regarding introduction of latest research of medicine, amongst the doctors.

A 90 days campaign of Dwat o Terbiat was launched by PIMA, slogan of this campaign was During this campaign, the programs of Reception of Ramdan such as Aftar Parties, Shab Bedari and Dars-e-Quran were organized in various cities. Director Dwat-o- Tarbiat mentioned that reception of Ramdan was held at 17 places including Aftar Parties at 14 places, while shab bedariean were held at 11 places. A Campaign with a Cause !

Abbottabad, Bunir, Quetta and Muzafarabad. Thousands of doctors participated in these programs. Speakers delivered the lecture to sensitize the doctors regarding their responsibilities, in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

effectees. He also told that in this 2 month project, PIMA teams visited 151 rural areas, 12,312 homes and performed 917 hygiene sessions. In these sessions 17402 men and women were present and trained about hygiene and protection from germs. Along with safe drinking water, soap, cloths, plastic sheets, fiber sheets and other items of common use were also distributed which were thousands in number. Central President Dr. Shafqat Javed told in his speech that PIMA was founded to serve the humanity. We can find pleasure and acceptance of Almighty in our service to humanity. We believe in service without discrimination.

ACTIVITIES

Hussain Butt addressed the participant. Speakers highlighted in their presentation that Almighty has provided guidance in every field of our life. To be a doctor is to work for a noble cause and we should keep in our hearts the fear of Almighty, sincerity and kindness for the patients, So that with physical treatment they might get moral and ethical education too.

PIMA doctors to set Precedents ! Central President PIMA address at Jacobabad and Kandh kotCentral President PIMA Dr. Shafqat Javed visited Jacobabad, at this moment provisional president Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon also accompanied him. The Central President graced the local organizational meeting at Jacobabad and also met with PIMA Kandh kot President Dr. Hazoor Bux Somro and Secretary Dr. Waqar. He put stress on the fact that PIMA Doctors must become a role model for others.

PIMA central president Dr. Shafqat Javed visited ten different places from May to December 2011 and participated in doctors meetings, Mushawrti Ijlas and also checked the relief work. He also participated in Provisional Shura meetings held at Peshawar, Hyderabad and also participated in Shura meeting of female branch.

PIMA KPK's President Dr. Rehmat Ullah Opal visited 32 places within the last six months. He not only met with PIMA members but also participated in local Mushawri meetings and Dawat-o-Tarbiat programs.Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon visited 8 different cities and participated in different meetings, 12 times.

On 3rd November PIMA Lahore conducted a semi-nar in children hospital on techniques of protection of children from dengue virus. In this seminar a very important lecture was given by hospital's Prof. Dr. Tahir Masood Ahmed. At this moment president PIMA Lahore Dr. Imran Zafar was also present.

A training workshop was held by PIMA Jacobabad in which 65 doctors took part from Upper Sindh and Balochistan. PIMA's Ex- Central President Dr. Ata Ur Rehman delivered a Dars-e-Quran on the topic of "Most important need of Time". Dr. Hafiz Mukhtar also delivered a lecture on topic of Shahadat-e-Imam Hussain (RA), he also highlighted some portions of Imam’s life. Dr. Zaheer Umer conducted a workshop on an important topic which was training of children. In this workshop President PIMA Baluchistan Dr. Ghulam Dastgeer Shah and President Province Sindh Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon also participated with their whole team.

This award will be presented to him in the FIMA council meeting next year, InshAllah. Nowadays Prof. Hafeez ur Rehman is offering his services in Peshawar Medical College (PMC) as voice principle and during the year 2002-03, he was the central president of PIMA.

Consortium of Islamic medical colleges (CIMCO) is a project of FIMA. Its purpose is to keep all

the medical colleges, Professional and Ethical Education systems and preparation of Programs joined together

under the guidance of Islamic Medical ethics. Director CIMCO and PIMA's General Secretary Prof. M. Iqbal Khan

told that CIMCO's one-day seminar was held in Jakarta on 15 September 2011. He also told that presently 47

research projects are underway form CIMCO's platform. On the other hand, our basic achievement is the curricu-

lum of MBBS which we have prepared in the light of Islamic Ideology.

FIMA's 28th annual convention and scientific conference was held on 13th to 17th September 2011 in Jakarta - Indonesia. 7 doctors from Pakistan participated. General secretary Prof. Muhammah Iqbal Khan, Prof. Hafeez ur Rehman, Dr. Tanveer ul Hasan Zubairi, Dr. Shamim Gul, Prof. Muhammah Saleem, Dr. Ata ur Rehman were participated. In scientific session Dr. Tanveer ul Hasan Zubari and Prof. Muhammad Saleem read their papers. These PIMA members participated in FIMA council, consortium of Islamic medical colleges and Islamic hospital consortium along with other sessions.

ACTIVITIES

Dr. Tariq Ismail presented the PIMA Punjab Report based on past 6 month’s performance at PIMA Central Shura meeting. He told that 18 new doctors became PIMA members. Quran Fehmi programs were conducted on 35 units. 55 students from Punjab were participated in the Student Leadership Camp, held in Islamabad. PIMA’s Introduction & other Dawti Literature were distributed in Multan, Lahore, DG Khan and Gujranwala. One day Special program on Fehm-ul-Quran was organized at Lahore in the presence of 50 Doctors. A training program for preparation of FCPS part II was also conducted in Lahore.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon, Presented provincial report in PIMA Centre Shura meeting. he told that 13 units are actively working in Sindh. Weekly Fehm-ul-Quran classes are conducted at seven units on regularly basis. Monthly meetings are being organized at Karachi, Sukhar, Shikarpur and Jackobabad. 23 program of Dars-e-Quran were organized by Pima at Sukhar, Shikarpur and Kandkot. 6 clinical meetings on 6 various subject were conducted in Karachi. Dawat-o-Tarbiat programs were also arranged for the member of Shikarpur and Karachi. Tafheem-ul- Quran and many other books were distributed in 16 Pima units.

Dr. Rahmat Ullah Opal, President PIMA KPK presented his activity report in Central Shura. He told that during the last 6 months 10 new doctors became our members and now total number has reached 500. 25 medical students from KPK were participated in Student Leader ship Camp which was organized by PIMA Center. 20 new medical students became PIMA associate member. Monthly Dawat-o-Tarbiat and organizational meeting were conducted at 15 different units. A training workshop was also organized at swat where 40 doctors participated.

Under the supervision of PIMA Baluchistan a clinical meeting and an Aftaar Program was organized by Dr. Ghulam Dastager Shah, in which 40 doctors were participated. Dars-e-Quran was given by Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman and Doctor Mujeeb Ullah (Asst. Prof of Cardiology, Bolan Medical College Hospital, Quetta) addressed about "The Basics of ECG". Participant congratulated local representatives and expressed their desire for continuation of such programs in future. Ex Provincial President Dr. Nazir Ahmed Badeni told in Central Shura meeting that in Quetta local organizational meetings are held regularly while Dars-e-Quran is held on daily basis.

Dr. Abdul Khalid, President PIMA Azad Kashmir told that PIMA units are established in 7 districts. At every Unit, member's meeting is being held monthly. In Muzafarabad, Mirpur, Bhimber, Kolti, and Rawalakot training and Dawati programs are also being held.

PIMA established PIMA MNCH Centre at Jalala on May 2009. Scattered IDP’s from Peshawar to Bunair,Vharsada, Sheikh Maltoon, Sheikh Shezad, Jalala etc were in need of this hospital. Initially this hospital provided OPD services but from January 2012 it has also started providing day and night service for Maternity and OPD as well.

PIMA Al-Hajri Al-Rabia Hospital, Muzaffarabad was established in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Al-Hajri Al-Rabia Trust, followed by PIMA Field Hospital, Muzaffarabad on 8th Oct. 2005. This 60 bedded indoor facility provides OPD service, 24 hrs emergency services, surgery, O.T, Obs & Gyne, Pediatrics services and diagnostic facilities including Laboratory, Ultrasound and X-Ray.

Activity Report ofPIMA Muslim Aid Hospital Mansehra

PIMA is engaged in the provision of relief and rehabilitation services to earthquake effected areas.

PIMA established this Hospital in Mansehra in collaboration with UK based NGO Muslim Aid. This 25 bedded hospital is providing state of the art health services to the local and regional population of this remote area.

A Community Nutrition project in CharsadaIn the last year PIMA Relief started a community nutrition project in charsada for flood affected union consul, in this project UNICEF, Al-khidmat Foundation and PRIME Foundation also participated. This project was inaugurated on 28th September 2011. Amongst Special guests were Dr. Abdul Aziz Zia. Dr. Abdul Jamil, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khalil, Mr. Farhad Khan, and Dr. Saeed Anwer. A massive figure from local population along with female also participated in the inaugural ceremony. This project will continue till 15th February 2012 and its budget is 2,771,910 PKR. In the early days of project PIMA's mobile teams went door to door and screened out 1900

Parallel to this, all sessions are being held in schools and communities during where people are being briefed about nutrition and its importance.

PIMA provided medical aid to 60 thousand people in flood affected area of Sindh.

In August 2011, the Monsoon rains brought a lot of destruction. According to reports 8.8 million people suffered and became homeless in which 46% were women. 67 Lac 91 thousand acre area of the land got affected. Crops on 21 lac 66 thousand acre area were destroyed while 15 lac 24 thousand homes were affected. This was a worst disaster according to media.

PIMA RELIEF

PIMA carried on its relief work from the day one by giving medical facilities to flood affectees. In the presence of worst difficulties, PIMA members helped out the victims whole heartedly by not just providing them with medical relief but also enabled them to transfer to the safe areas. Mobile and static units which were started by Dr. Shafqat Javed are still working. In these units patients are medically examined and given free medicines. The detail of Services is as under:

Project in collaborationwith Qatar Red CrescentIn collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent, PIMA established two medical centers in district Khairpur. The Budget for this project is Rs. 7,636,360 rupees. These centers are providing services from 8th October 2011 and will continue till 23rd April 2012. In these medical centers 19,963 Patients got medical treatment free-of-cost. Moreover, with the help of Mercy Malaysia 500 hygiene kits were also distributed in Mirpur Khas and Badin, which contained daily use items.

establishment of special ward in Sureya Azeem Hospital for Dengue effected people.PIMA established a 60 bedded ward in Surayyah Azeem Hospital, Lahore, in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Foundation. 200 patients have been admitted here with 3- 7 days during Aug-Sep 2011. Other than this, PIMA Lahore held a Dengue Seminar in Children Hospital. Awareness brochures & guidelines for Management of Dengue fever and hemorrhagic fever from Sri-Lankan Health Ministry were also published by PIMA.

Three doctors visited Somalia and provided medical aid to the affectees.We give help through partnerships so that Relief reaches the people in need. PIMA and Islamic Relief are working jointly in the worst famine and drought hit Somalia to provide the most needed medical relief.

Even in highly worst circumstances PIMA's team worked with bravery, courage and professional experience. Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Islamic organizations from all over the world admired PIMA’s contribution.

A donation of Ten thousand dollarsfor earthquake affecties in TurkeyOn October 23rd, 2011, as an earthquake of 7.2 magnitudes struck the Van province of Turkey. The disaster killed more than 460 people, leaving over 1,500 in dire situations. PIMA donated 10,000 $ to Earthquake affectees through Doctors World Wide. PIMA remained in contact with Prof. Ahsan Karaman , chairman DWW, Turkey. PIMA also offered medical relief to DWW & Turkey Embassy Islamabad.

PIMA provided medical relief during August and September 2011 for IDPs of Mehmend Agency. Provisional President Dr. Rahmat ullah Opal told that under the supervision of PIMA KPK, 10 free medical camps were organized at Ghazi Kot, where 2 doctors, 1 lady doctor and 7 paramedical staff provided their services. In these camps 1300 patients were examined and treated and given medicines.

and Child CareCentre Campsin Sindh and KPKDuring the last 6 months FIMA mobile mother and child clinic provided services in Mirpur Khas, Sikrand, Khairpur, Hala, and Mengora. Total 1825 pregnant women and children were examined, treated and also provided free medicines. This project was organized in collaboration with FIMA & IMANA. One lady doctor and 4 paramedical staff served in this camp.

PIMA Relief established 79 free Medial Camps.A set of free medical camps goes on in poor cities of Pakistan by PIMA Relief continuously. During previous the 6 months in Lahore, Multan, Sailkot, and Gojra 20 medical camps were arranged and in those camps more than 1000 patients daily were examined and given medicines. 14 medical camps in Gujranwala, organized for skin disease, average 150 patients were examined. 2 medical camp in Shikarpur, 1 in Sakhar, and 42 in Karachi were arranged, 7000 patients were examined and given medicines as well. In Karachi along with 2 ultra sound camps 3 free eye camps were also arranged where 125 free operations were performed in these camps. On 30th December at Nagi Charsada a free medical camp was organized by PIMA KPK. In this camp 150 patients were examined

and given medicines. On 18th December one day-medical camp was organized at Manzooranad, Multan, 1400 patients were given medical treatment. In this camp 9 PIMA members served, estimated cost of medicine is 24000 PKR.

PIMA's Central President Dr. Shafqat Javed nominated Dr. Muhammad Ishaq as director of “Islamic Hospital

Consortium” for the remaining period of the session 2010-2012. Dr. Muhammad Ishaq has also been PIMA’s Central President during the year 1984-86 and now he is offering his services in Peshawar Medical College. Purpose of this project was to unite hospitals and clinics on one platform and train the doctors and other relevant staff in the light of Islamic educational theory besides reforming the administrative works of hospitals and clinics according to Islamic principles.

Government should arrest the killers of doctors in Shikarpur and Quetta Dr. Shafqat javid.Talking about 3 murders in Shikarpur and 1 in Quetta, central president PIMA dispraisingly said that government should take necessary actions to ensuring doctors’ protection. In one of his statements, he said that the deaths of doctors in Shikarpur and Quetta are shrouded in the fog of mystery and terror. Government should do all out efforts to arrest the murders. He further said that PIMA equally share the grief of the bereaved ones.

Prevention of Blindness (POB)Prevention of Blindness (POB) is one of the most important projects of PIMA that provides medical eye care and treatment, with the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness. POB provided its services to 600 thousand poor people in OPD, among those over sixty thousands were provided operative facilities with IOL implantation. POB provides not only at the spot treatment but also follows up for their patients by provision of free eye drops and glasses. A summarized data from July 2011 to January 2012 is given below to reflect POB’s activities.

PIMA FEMALE BRANCH

PIMA Female Branch arranged 03 personality development workshops in Islamic International Medical College for doctors. 25 lectures were arranged In Rawalpindi Medical College, Islamic International Medical College and Wah Medical College.

Arrangements of programs about hygiene promotion in womenPIMA Female Branch arranged programs about health and hygiene in different cities of the country in which 80 females were focused. Doctors of PIMA provided guidance about health and cleanliness in the light of Quran and Sunnh. For this purpose in Bethak schools 2 programs were also arranged in which 130 women were considered for awareness. In Lahore and Islamabad some programs were also arranged in summer camps for skin care and personal hygiene.

Members of PIMA Female Branch met with the Chairperson of health committee and negotiated for the provision of flexible working hours. In addition to this, Female Branch has also prepared a letter and arranged a workshop in Karachi.

Under breast cancerawareness program, doctor’s trainings and meetings were arranged at 36 places.Awareness program regarding breast cancer has been started. About 25 lady doctors got training of examining breast cancer and held 36 breast cancer awareness programs in which 3600 women were examined. At two specific places detection camps were arranged for examining females for breast cancer.

PIMA Female Branch arranged a farewell party in Rawalpindi Medical College in which more than 300 female students were present. At this moment certificates were distributed among 70 successful students. Moreover, meetings with the students of 8 medical colleges were also arranged, Female Branch also gave farewell party to final year students and a reception was also given in the honor of Karachi's new students.

Arranging central training workshops in Karachi and Islamabad.A training workshop was arranged for PIMA Female Branch in Karachi. 35 women were part of this workshop. At this moment central president Dr. Kaoser Firdous delivered a lecture about “Time Management”. In Islamabad a training workshop was also arranged on topics of “Medical Ethics”, “Qualities of Leadership” and “PIMA Dastoor”. Central President addressed about “Time Management”, in this workshop in the presence of 43 doctors.

An organizational meeting of PIMA Kandh Kot was held on 11th October at the residence of Dr. Khawaja Waqar. Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon, President PIMA Sindh also participated in this meeting on special invitation. At this occasion Dars-e-Quran & various other lectures were also delivered. PIMA literature was also distributed among the participants.

An organizational meeting of PIMA Hyderabad was held on 17th September 2011 at the residence of Dr. Niaz Chana. Dr. Abdur Raheem, Dr. Asim Channa, Dr. Asif, Dr. Jamal ud Din Somoro. Dr. Javed Pathan, Dr. Sohail Akhter and Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon participated in this meeting. At this occasion Dr. Asim Channa was nominated as officiate President of Hyderabad Unit.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon, president PIMA Sindh visited Mirpur and Matli and also participated in consultative meeting of members. Dr. Tariq Arain, Dr. Ikram, Dr. Malik Shoukat, Dr. Abdus Samad Memon and Dr. Ghulam Khan also participated in this meeting. New unit was established at Matli.

PIMA Shikarpur organized an Istakbal-e-Ramzan program in which 25 doctors participated. At this moment Dars-e-Quran and a lecture on were delivered. PIMA Multan organized Istakbal-e-Ramzan Program in which 83 doctors participated.

PIMA Swat organized a lecture program on 11th August at PIMA House Saidu Sharif in which 50 doctors were present. At this moment well known professionals Dr. Obaid and Dr. Rahmat ullah Opal addressed the gathering.

Dr. Wali Muhammad Mujahid, former president PIMA and Dr. Habib ur Rehman, President PIMA Multan Division visited Shujahabad unit. At this occasion organizational meeting was held, 30 doctors participated in this meeting. Dr. Farooque Meo (orthopedic surgeon) was elected as district president.

Annual Convention and Family Con of PIMA SialkotPIMA Sialkot organized Annual Convention & Family Convention and Free Medical Camp on 24th July 2011. 08 consultants and 20 MO’s participated and examined 3000 patients in the free medical camp. Medicines of worth Rs2, 50,000 were given to the poor patients.In the evening a family get-together was arranged. 110 doctors with their families glorified at this occasion. Welcome Ramzan address was given by Prof. Abdul Aleem and a lecture on medical ethics was delivered by Dr. Ahmed Khan. Introduction of PIMA & Relief work were highlighted by DR Khalid Saleem Minhas. Special program for the children below 12 years comprising of Qirat, Naat, Poems & Jokes was admired by all. A Large number of valuable gifts were given to the children.

Monthly Dars-e-Quran & Dars-e-Hadees for doctors and paramedics held on regularly basis. Monthly Dars-e-Quran is being organized at Medical Complex Auditorium. This is a gathering of Doctors and dignitaries of the civil society. Audience is about 80 people. PIMA Sialkot held eight CME programs with collaboration of Pharmaceuticals Companies during 2011. PIMA Sialkot has also organized 6 free medical camps in 2011.

Pakistan Islamic Medical association (PIMA) arranged two days Training Workshop for Central and Provincial Shura members and city presidents at Islamabad. More than 120 doctors from Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtonkhwa attended the workshop. Large number of PIMA Female branch members also participated in the workshop.
