22nd February 2019
A very busy 2019 already!!
We have started 2019 at a hectic pace, with club meetings being held in the boardroom of the Archive Centre virtually every weekend.
We also now have clear plans for our Open Days on the 1st Sunday of every month; three of these events will be themed. The idea is that whilst everyone is still very welcome, we hope to attract the relevant club members who will bring their vehicles along to create a fantastic display and fully utilise our great location. We will organise drinks and have the BBQ in operation so you can buy refreshments during the day, with the funds raised helping the building fund. A day to get your vehicle out and meet up with friends, share stories with other enthusiasts and generally enjoy having a classic Rootes car (or van, or lorry…). Do come along!
More details on the next few page, so save the date to make sure you don’t miss these fantastic Rootes events. Those of you who came to the official opening will remember what a great venue the archive is: lots of space, hard standing for the cars and vintage memorabilia to browse.
Also, if you are coming to the NEC Restoration Show you only have till the end of February to get the benefit of our ticket discount code!!

matched-funding programme whereby any North American donations
made in the first part of this year will be matched up to $5,000. We are
very grateful for this wonderful show of support, which helps us towards
our outstanding building fund deficit of £51,112.
Thank you for all your efforts so far - come along to our special events in
2019 to help us meet our fundraising targets. Donations can be made at
any time by contacting: [email protected]

Volunteers Needed
Now that the Archive Centre is starting to hold more events we have a need for more assistance from volunteers. We also want to turbo-charge cataloguing the contents of the archive and this again needs extra resource. We normally work in the centre every Friday and over many weekends so if you have some time available and would like to help preserve and promote Britain's motoring heritage then get in touch.

We are collecting brochures & need your help
Alan, one of our volunteers, has been cataloguing our brochure collection to
determine what we hold and to make retrieval easier. Whilst we have a good
collection we are aware there must be many brochures out there which we don’t
have and so we are appealing to you to donate any relevant material you have
so that we can build up the most complete collection of Rootes, Chrysler and
Talbot brochures. If you have some which you would like to donate then you can
either post them to the Archive Centre or better still pay us a visit, and bring them
with you, so we can show you the work we are doing. Recently, we have supplied
brochure images to a number of publishers and for commercial reproduction.
Equipment Appeal
We are in urgent need of an A3 Flatbed scanner to help with our
digitising project. If you or your company have one or any other
computer equipment you could donate we would love to hear
from you.
