Hritu Sodhi : Forest, Environment and Mines

Minister Shri Rajkumar Rinwa has said to give

priority to water conservation. He was address-

ing a meeting in circuit house, Udaipur on Friday

where senior officials of Forest and Mines and

geology departments were present.

Shri Rinwa gave directions to save water

and encouraged officers to increase such activ-

ities under Chief Minister's Jal swavlamban

yojna. He said that forests will be filled with

water all through the year which will lead to

forest protection and greenery would help for

the safety of wild animals.

Forest Minister discussed different issues

of forest and mines and listened to the prob-

lems of public related to mines and forest.

He gave necessary directions to senior offi-

cials of both the departments. He directed the

officers that more water conservation trends

should be taken in hand and also instructed

them about all the chief principles of Jal

swavlamban campaign.

He advised to increase the usage of herbal

gulal and promote botanical and medical prod-

ucts and asked to explore about the possibil-

ity of opening outlets in Jaipur's Aranya Bhawan.

Shri Rinwa told senior officers to take nec-

essary actions to stop illegal mining. The meet-

ing informed about the Chief Minster's Jal

Swavlamban Campaign under which the Forest

Department, Udaipur is extensively working on

the conservation activities.

literary bent. The Udaipur Leap-day

Lit Fest 2016 or ULLF'16 is the fla-

vor of this weekend. A day-long event

on the day of the Sabbath and of the

leap year - Sunday 28th February -

ULLF16 is a perfect way to unwind

and indulge into some literary con-

versations.

The institute has invited some of

the renowned celebrities in the fields

of art, dance, writing, film direction

and journalism. Luminaries like: Ms.

Margie Sastry, author of stories for

the Indian classic tales of Amar Chitra

Katha and the writer for several TV

series like Surabhi, KhanaKhazana

and Gurukul; Mr. Divya Prakash

Dubey, a B-school graduate who later

published Hindi novels such as Terms

and Conditions apply among others.

The event also has a few artists

from the beloved film fraternity. Mr.

BejoyNambiar, story writer, screen

writer and director of critically

acclaimed short films Reflections and

Rahu. He also directed other com-

mercial movies such as Shaitaan,

David and the Amitabh Bachchan and

Farhan Akhtar starrer 'Wazir'.Other

speakers from the B-town include Ms.

ShefaliBhushan, an upcoming Indian

feature film director who made her

directorial debut with Jugni - released

recently in January 2016.

As has been the legacy of the

IIMU's Litfest, where previous editions

have included not just authors like

Ms. Rashmi Bansal, author of Stay

hungry Stay foolish and author of the

book Chanakya's chant - Ashwin

Sanghi; but also artists like,Mr. Piyush

Mishra of the Gangs of Wasseypur

and Coke Studio fame and the cele-

brated Indian dancer and Padma

Bhushan awardee Ms. Mallika

Sarabhai.

This year too, the institute has a

line-up of other artist including Mr.

NavtejJohar,Bharatanatyam expo-

nent and a choreographer who among

many other accolades is also a recip-

ient of the Times of India Fellowship,

1995, and the Charles Wallace

Fellowship, 1999, and was the per-

f o r m a n c e d i r e c to r o f t h e

Commonwealth Parade, for the

Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebrations,

at London, in June 2002. And last but

not the least,the event includes guests

from the media community, Mr.

Hridayesh Joshi, a well-known

reporter. Currently the Senior Editor,

National Affairs at NDTV, he has cov-

ered national and political affairs, spe-

cial interest in developmental issues,

and has consistently covered the

armed conflict between the Maoists

and the Indian state. The event is all

set to weave artistic tales for its audi-

ences.

It is the belief of the institute that

culture and literature among other

things is as important to a manage-

ment student as is learning hard

skills of marketing, finance etc. IIM

Udaipur is therefore one of the few

institutes in the country that hosts a

literature festival designed on the lines

of the Jaipur litfest. Besides getting

to rub shoulders with who's who of

the literary and art world, the event,

which is completely conceptualized

and executed by the student com-

munity, is a practical way of imple-

menting several concepts learned in

the classrooms related to organizing

events and managing people.

110 teachersturned smart

Jaipur run Project Utkarsh's

fourth stage of Smart Class

Training one-day workshop

concluded on Fr iday at

Government Higher Secondary

School, Goverdhan Vilas,

Udaipur. So far, 110 teachers

have participated in the smart

class and virtual class by Project

Utkarsh in training programs to

improve the future of their school

students. Project Manager

Ashok Kumar Soni said that so

far 110 teachers from 95 schools

in four stages yet smart teacher's

class have become smart. Also,

along with other local schools

in the district, 30 models, includ-

ing 20 ICT schools along with

50 school's class 9 students are

being taught about the Utkarsh

Project from the beginning.

Udaipur Powerlifters dom-inate in State TournamentUdaipur : The team Udaipur has bagged four

gold, seven silver and one bronze medal in the

recently concluded Rajasthan State Senior and

Master's Bench Press Powerlifting Tournament

held in Bikaner. Udaipur's Women Team won

first runner up in the tournament. Vinod Sahu,

Usman Khan has lifted 142.5kg weight under

66kg category and won gold while in master -

Sohan Nalwaya lifted 92.5 under 83kg weight

category and Bhupendra Vyas lifted 102.5 kg

and earned gold medals. Rajkumari Yadav won

gold by lifting 80kg weight in 72kg category

while Ashfaq Hussain listed 175kg and won sil-

ver medal and Rajesh Chauhan lifted 90kg and

also got silver medal.
