Whether film nights or fashion shows; charity events or bubble football there’s always the opportunity to relax and meet others. Enrichment Programme This is intended to broaden your horizons and encourage you to engage more fully with the wider world. It comprises a series of talks and workshops covering a wide variety of topics that could include anything from cutting edge science to challenging talks on moral, political and social issues and from drugs and alcohol awareness to the adventures of Polar explorers. Meeting with Directors of Studies In the Sixth Form you will have regular one-to- one meetings with your Director of Studies to ensure that you are coping with your workload and developing the ability to manage your time effectively. Your Director of Studies will also advise you on your university application. Independent Study As is commonly the case in the sixth form, your timetable is likely to include a few free periods. Much of the time, you’ll be using these to do homework or to prepare for lessons. Classes The majority of your time is, of course, spent in classes. Given the way that we teach — interactive classes with small groups — you can expect your time in the classroom to be lively and stimulating. Sports and Activities Twice a week students can take part in sports and other extra- curricular activities.There are around 25 different sports and activities to choose from, the aim being to enable each student to find activities they enjoy and that provide a valuable complement to their studies. In the Lower Sixth students study 4 A level subjects.They have 4 lessons of 1 hour and 15 minutes leading to a total of 20 hours of lesson time a week. In addition there will be preparation for lessons and homework. Students will also take part in their chosen sports and activities twice a week and participate in the Enrichment programme. There will be optional sessions for those wanting to go on to read degrees such as Medicine and Law, for students wanting specific learning skills support or who want to attend subject workshops that might be available at various points during the year (such as the build-up to exams). Lunch will be served daily in the cafeteria and hall. University Options We have a comprehensive programme to help you prepare of the next stage of your education. This includes workshops, visits and individual support from the Directors of Studies. For the very competitive courses we have specialist programmes running to help with interview practice, preparing for tests and further study.
