An Introduction: Delhi, the capital of India has a strong historical background. It was ruled by some of the most powerful

emperors in Indian history.

The history of the city is as old as the epic Mahabharata. The town was known as Indraprastha, where

Pandavas used to live. In due course eight more cities came alive adjacent to Indraprastha: LalKot, Siri,

Dinpanah, Quila Rai Pithora, Ferozabad, Jahanpanah, Tughlakabad and Shahjahanabad.

Delhi has been a witness to the political turmoil for over five centuries. It was ruled by the Mughals in

succession to Khiljis and Tughlaqs.

In the year 1803 AD, the city came under the British rule. In 1911, British shifted their capital from

Calcutta to Delhi. It again became the center of all the governing activities. But, the city has the

reputation of over throwing the occupants of its throne. It included the British and the current political

parties that have had the honor of leading free India.

After independence in 1947, New Delhi was officially declared the Capital of India.

Agra is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-the Taj Mahal.

The architectural splendour of the mausoleums, the fort and the palaces is vivid reminder of the

opulence of the legendary Mughal Empire, of which Agra was the capital in the 16th and early 17th

centuries.

Agra is known for its superb inlay work on marble and soapstone by craftsmen who are descendants of

those who worked under the Mughals. The city is also famous for its carpets, gold thread embroidery

and leather shoes. https://www.britannica.com/place/Agra

Jaipur, the capital of the North Indian State of Rajasthan, is named after its founder Maharaja Jai Singh

II (1693-1743). The city is surrounded by hills and dotted with forts. Houses with pink latticed windows

line the streets, and look almost magical at sunset. An extremely well planned city, Jaipur was designed

by an engineer and scholar Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, in accordance with ancient Hindu treatise on

architecture, the Shilpa Shasta (Vastu).

The Old City, also known as the Pink City, is a wonderful place to wander around. The whole city was

painted pink by Maharaja Man Singh II when Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, visited Jaipur in 1876.

Today, every home within the city is obliged by law to maintain this facade - hence Jaipur's is also called

the Pink City. https://www.britannica.com/place/Jaipur-India

Jodhpur - Jodhpur, the second largest city of the state of Rajasthan, is often called the blue city and is

an oasis in the arid Thar Desert. Representing this colourful city with shades of blue, Jodhpur has a

history that is rich and a present that beckons strongly to the discerning tourist. Forts and palaces,

temples and havelis, culture and tradition, spices and fabrics, colour and texture, Jodhpur has them all

and in plenty.

Places worth visiting in Jodhpur include the Mehrangarh Fort, that stands guard over the city from an

isolated hill, the Jaswant Thada, an imposing white marble cenotaph, built in memory of the Maharaja,

and the Umaid Bhawan Palace, which is a splendid example of Indo colonial architecture. The Umaid

Bhawan Palace, other than still being the home of the royal family of Jodhpur, is also a deluxe hotel, and

a part of it is a museum. Jodhpur is also a popular shopping destination, with antique furniture being a

popular buy amongst tourists.

Udaipur is often called ‘Venice of the East’. It is also the ‘city of lakes’. The Lake Palace (Jag Niwas)

located in the middle of Pichola Lake is the finest example of architectural and cultural marvel. The

grand City Palace on the banks of the lake along with the Monsoon Palace (SajjanGarh) on the hill above

enhances the beauty of this magnificent city. Udaipur is also the centre for performing arts, crafts and

its famed miniature paintings. http://tourism.rajasthan.gov.in/udaipur.html

recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the

world's heritage." The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing

thousands of artisans and craftsmen.

Agra Fort - Architectural wonder in stone

Within a radius of 3 kilometers, on the banks of the river Yamuna rises the crescent like Agra Fort.

Designed and built by Akbar in 1565 A.D., the fort is surrounded by a 70 feet high wall. This powerful

fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long walls, the Jahangir Palace and the Khas

After breakfast drive to Jodhpur. Reach Jodhpur and check-in into the hotel.

Jodhpur, also popularly known as 'Blue City' because of the beautiful houses painted with indigo

color mostly belonging to the Brahmin caste. The 15th century city of Jodhpur(stands at the edge of

Thar Desert) is the largest city of Rajasthan after Jaipur. The city is totally dominated by a massive

fort known as Mehrangarh Fort, founded by RaoJodha in 15th century.

The India itinerary takes you to Rajasthan, India’s colorful desert state, replete with forts, palaces,

pomp, and splendor, which one can experience even now. Our base is JODHPUR, where as with its

sister city JAIPUR (the Pink City) in years past famous English, American, and Indian names of the

’30s, ’40s, and ’50s visited to play and watch the King of Games. Today Jodhpur is an exclusive polo

venue for the well-heeled of India and overseas.

Overnight will be at Jodhpur .

TIGERPAWS & THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS India is often associated with elephants which are still a strong part of Indian culture. As such one of the activities visitors enjoy is riding elephants in the jungle for game watching, bathing them, and riding them to fort tops.

Jaipur, the Pink city is particularly well-known as in the history of Jaipur, elephants were used for processions, festivals, fights, games, hunting; becoming emblems of the power of the Maharajas.

With changing values some believe the commercial tourist elephant rides are inappropriate, while others feel it is acceptable.

Since TigerPaws believes its visitors are well informed and entitled to their own position, it respects both positions

and can offer these rides, or indeed alternatives to these rides one of which is simply studying their care and bathing, and the other, going to AMBER FORT top by jeep.

of its splendid architecture and the diverse history associated with it. Considered as one of the most

formidable and magnificent forts of Rajasthan, Mehrangarh fort was built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459. The fort is spread over an area of 5 km and is built on 125 m high hill in the outskirts of Jodhpur city.

There are seven gates, which can be used to enter the Mehrangarh fort. These 7 gates are made by

different rulers, and are built in honour of victory over Bikaner and Jaipur armies.

Later proceed toward Jaswant Thada. To the left of the Mehrangarh Fort complex is the Jaswant Thada

of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It is a 19th century royal cenotaph built in commemoration of Maharaja Jaswant

Singh II, the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur. The son of Maharaja Jaswant Singh, Maharaja Sardar Singh,

in the memory of his father, built the Jaswant Thada. The cenotaph has two more tombs within it. Near to this are the royal crematorium and three other cenotaphs.

Famous Jaswant Thada in Jodhpur, India is an example of architectural brilliance in India. It is a white

marble memorial, built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. The carving shows the genius of the

sculptors. These stones are extremely thin and polished. As a result, the outside surface of the

monument emits a warm glow when the sunrays fall on its surface. There is also beautiful marble jali

work on the cenotaph. You can have some nice views from the terrace in front of the cenotaph.
