INTRODUCTION

The rapid growth & development of ICT changed the reading style of college students

because they are using e – resources through technology as supplementary study materials

with print materials. Normally electronic resources are the electronic study materials

which is available in the online and offline mode with electronic form, video & picture.

such as e- book, e- journal, e- magazine, e- research report, e- newspaper e- newsletter, e-

databases, e- Thesis & Dissertation, CD/ DVD- ROM etc. this resources require

electronic devices for the access like- computer, laptop, palmtop, tablet and mobile etc.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE

The Government Nagarjun P.G. college of science Raipur, established in the year 1948.

The college is an autonomous body affiliated to the Pt. Ravishankar shukla university,

Raipur. It is kwon and single faculty college of science it offers post graduate degree in

eight science subject with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany,

Biotechnology, Geology & Defence studies . Currently 50 regular faculty and 85

employees working hear who provide the administrative support at different levels. and

about 2000 students are enrolled in the college at the U G & P G level. The college is

leading centre of science studies and model for the other colleges of the state in the field

of science teaching and research.

REVIEW OF LITERATURE

A good number of studies available on use of e- resources by College students from india

& abroad. Some relevant literatures are reviewed for the present study are presented

following.

Nisha And P. M. (2013), Study on use of e- journals as a result found that most of the

user aware on use of e- journal and they are not only using them for building & updating

their Knowledge but also for collecting relevant materials for their study and research

purpose.

Kannappanavar and Madhu (2015) as per objective of this paper found that most of the

scientist (92.85%) used their department for electronic resources and also observed that

(60.71%) respondents CeRA, (50%) science Direct and (35.71%) CAB Abstract

Databases frequently used.

Rajender kumar (2016), in his study found that maximum P.G. & U.G. Students aware

and use e- resources of Maharshi Markandeshwar University, Ambala. Further he found

e- resources are more informative and the satisfaction level was not high regarding use of

e- resources of medical students.

Bhat & Ganaie (2016), in his study found that majority of the scientists, research

scholars and Postgraduate Students of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and

forestry prefer both print & e- information resources. and also found that majority of the

user use I/A e- databases viz. AGRIS , CABI & CeRA. etc.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The basic objectives of the present study are to make a study on the use of e-resources by

the P. G. Students of Govt. Nagarjun P.G. Science College, Raipur Chhattisgarh However

the other objectives of the study can be summarized as below.

a) To Know the types and media of e-resources used by P.G. Students

b) To Know the purpose of use e-resources by P.G. Students

c) To Know the Satisfaction level using e- resources by P.G. Students

d) To find out the Time Spend per week for using e-resources by P.G. Students

e) To identify various problems/barriers in using e- resources by P.G. Students

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The study is confined with use of e-resources by the regular P. G. students of Govt.

Nagarjun P.G. Science College, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) the various limitations of the study

are:

METHODOLOGY

The present study was based on cross sectional survey method. Among various

techniques of Survey method, Questionnaire technique was selected for the study. a

structured questionnaire designed and distributed Among 314 P.G. Students in Govt.

Nagarjun P.G. Science College, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) for the collection of data. Out of

314 Respondents 201 questionnaires were returned. Then Tabulated Analyzed and

Presented of data with Table Charts & graphs.

CONCLUSION

On the basic of the finding it may be Concluded that majority of the P.G. students use e-

resources for study purpose and (34.23% of the P.G. students spend 1-2 hours in a week

for e- resources. The P.G. students of Govt. P.G. Nagarjun Science College Raipur more

use e- newspapers as compared other types of the e- resources like e- book & e- journal.

Nowadays e-resources are gaining popularity among College Students for fulfill their

Information needs and seeking. The present study reveals an encouraging picture about

the use of e-resources by the P.G. Students of Govt. P.G. Nagarjun Science College
