2007 – Added 165,000 access lines and 2,400 mile fiber network with purchases in Alabama, Illinois, Georgia and North Carolina

2009 – Acquired Embarq Corporation, formerly the local telephone division of Sprint, creating the fourth largest telecommunications provider — based on access lines — in the United States

2011 – Acquired Qwest Communications, who had merged with US WEST, one of the original regional Bell operating companies, in 2000.

Acquired Savvis, Inc, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions

2012 – CenturyLink is now the third largest telecommunication provider — based on access lines — in the United States,

has revenues of more than $18 billion, a national 230,000-mile fiber network and approximately 47,000 employees
