A short film about making a friend on the ride home.

This is a film about moving to the city, how you can be surrounded by millions of people and still feel alone. It’s about trust, shedding your fear, and embracing new experiences. Our two lonely characters are thrown into an unexpected night of antics and must ultimately decide to take a chance on an unlikely friendship, to live in this world, or to merely exist alongside it.

Vijay, a lonely taxi driver who recently moved to Melbourne, picks up a stray drunk, Chris. Vijay’s distrust is slowly broken down as Chris befriends him. Over the course of the night Chris experiences some of Vijay’s nightly troubles, and Vijay learns to see the city in a new light.

P R O D U C T I O NThey cast the lead actor by placing a casting call in all taxis throughout Melbourne, via the dispatch service. They received hundreds of replies and every driver auditioned shared a similar story of friendship and woe. When Gurvinder Atwal auditioned the filmmakers were won over by his naturalistic performance and authenticity. They knew they had finally discovered their lead actor. In casting a Sikh, the script was modified to suit Gurvinder’s religion, as the role was originally intended for a Hindu.

Jordan is an award-winning writer/director of short films and music videos, a graduate of Swinburne

University’s Bachelor of Film and TV, an Alumni the Melbourne International

Film Festival’s Accelerator program for emerging directors, and from 2013-2016 was full-time writer/

director at DPI, a Melbourne production company. His short films

have won him acclaim both locally and internationally.

In 2015 he wrote and directed

two music videos for TINY LITTLE HOUSES, winning an Audience Award at SoundKILDA, and screening at the Los Angeles Music Video Festival in competition with some of the world’s

biggest music artists. His short film SHE SELLS was screened at

Flickerfest in 2015 and subsequently picked up by Flickerfest distribution.

Lachlan is currently working as a freelance writer, director and editor,

whilst developing a slate of feature film projects. During his time as Drama Development Manager at The Film

Company, Lachlan edited numerous television commercials, associate

produced the highly successful Australian family comedy ODDBALL,

and helped attract development funding for Rachel Griffiths’ debut feature film. He previously worked

at WTFN ENTERTAINMENT as a Shooter-Producer on various

television programs including National Geographic’s highest rating show of 2015, ODDBALL: THE NATURE OF A

MOVIE.

In 2013 Lachlan wrote, directed and produced the feature film, REVERSE

RUNNER, with Jarrod Theodore. Lachlan graduated from Swinburne University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Film & TV (Honours First Class).

Lachlan is a member of the Australian Director’s Guild.

Jarrod is a creative producer at DPI, a Melbourne production

company, where he manages both the commercial video team and the

development of feature film projects.

He has a background in advertising, film production and distribution. In 2013, Jarrod wrote, directed and

produced the feature film REVERSE RUNNER, with Lachlan Ryan. It had

a theatrical release and became the highest-grossing film of the

year at one provincial cinema. The film was then released on all home entertainment formats in Australia and New Zealand, following VOD

distribution in North America. In 2016 Jarrod produced NOT REAL a short film which premiered at the Austin

Film Festival and Flickerfest. He has produced multiple music videos that

have screened and won awards in SoundKILDA, Los Angeles Music

Video Festival and Foxtel.
