Summer Nuclear Station Units 2&3 Response to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Bulletin 2012-01, "Design Vulnerability in Electric Power System," Issued November 5,2014 (Accession Number ML 15159A307) An NRC public meeting was held on October 30,2014 with Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) and SCE&G to discuss the SNC and SCE&G responses to NRC Bulletin 2012- 01 "Design Vulnerability in Electric Power System" and provide the Licensees an opportunity to clarify previously submitted information. As a result of this meeting, the NRC staff issued Reference 1. On January 29, 2015 SCE&G submitted Reference 2 in response to Reference 1. In this letter, SCE&G committed to perform an analysis and implement any subsequent modifications to ensure that operations personnel can adequately detect an open phase condition and that the detection should alarm in the main control room. The target completion date for this commitment was indicated to be the end of the second maintenance/refueling outage for each unit. This letter is provided to revise the commitment and completion date that was provided in Reference 2. The target date for completion of an analysis and any necessary modifications associated with open phase concerns addressed in NRC Bulletin 2012-01 will be prior to fuel load for each unit as stated in the enclosure to this letter.
