MISSION CO-OP SPECIAL COLLECTION August 25th and 26th

The Missionary Cooperative Plan is the main source of income for many missionary groups/projects worldwide. Each summer, a missionary group is assigned to Parishes around the Diocese of Orange to do the appeal at all Masses. A second collection will take place on August 25th and 26th to help the Franciscan Missionary Brothers of North America in New York. Bro. Victor G. Stanislaus, CMSF will be speaking on behalf of the Franciscan Missionary Brothers. The collection is not just a donations; it is a way for Catholics to participate in the mission ministry we are called to. Please use envelopes designated for this cause. Thank you for your continuous generosity.

CHURCH CARPET CLEANING August 20th and 21st

On Monday, August 20th after 8:00am Daily Mass, our Church will be closed for carpet cleaning. Tuesday, August 21st 8:00am Daily Mass will be held in the Church and will remain closed for the rest of the day. Thank you for your cooperation.

Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

August 14th and 15th A Holy Day of Obligation

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrates the Catholic teaching that Mary was assumed into heaven, body, and soul. She received this gift of grace as a consequence of her Immaculate Conception which teaches that she was without sin (immaculate) from the first moment of her life at conception in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne. Therefore she was not subject to the

corruption due to sin; and was assumed into heaven. This gives her special honor and privilege as also we hope to follow her into the Kingdom that Jesus has prepared for us. To celebrate this solemn feast in union with the entire Church in heaven and on earth, all Catholics are obligated to attend Mass for this Holy Day. Deacon Ricardo Barraza was born in Ensenada, Mexico. He has been married to his wife, Iracema Luna de Barraza for 33 years. God has blessed them with 3 children; Oscar Ricardo (30), Carolina Flor (28 ) and Margarita Leonor (25). In 1990, Deacon Ricardo and his family arrived to Orange County becoming parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Santa Ana and 8 years later to St. Norbert in Orange. In 2003, they lived a weekend experience with Marriage Encounters which by then, him and his wife were invited to serve as EM’s in La Purisima Church. They made it their home! He had the calling into the Deaconate program in 2015. The Deaconate Office and Bishop Kevin Vann have now called him to serve here, in Santiago de Compostela in which he brings a lot of love, aspires to gain more knowledge and to serve as a brother and member of this community.

En 2003, vivieron una experiencia de fin de semana con Encuentros Matrimoniales que para entonces, él y su esposa fueron invitados a servir como Ministros Extraordinarios de la Eucaristia en la Iglesia La Purísima. ¡Lo hicieron su hogar! Tuvo el llamado al programa de Diáconos en 2015. La Oficina de Diáconos y el Obispo Kevin Vann lo han llamado para servir aquí, en Santiago de Compostela, en el que aporta mucho amor, aspira a obtener más conocimiento y a servir como hermano. y miembro de esta comunidad.

26 de agosto El Plan Cooperativo Misionero es la principal Fuente de ingresos para muchos grupos/proyectos misioneros en todos el mundo. La fiesta de la Asunción de la Santísima Virgen María, se celebra en toda la Iglesia el 15 de agosto. Esta fiesta tiene un doble objetivo: La feliz partida de María de esta vida y la asunción de su cuerpo al cielo. “En esta solemnidad de la Asunción contemplamos a María: ella nos abre a la esperanza, a un futuro lleno de alegría y nos enseña el camino para alcanzarlo: acoger en la fe
