Friends of St. John The Caregiver Support Group

Are you a family caregiver in need of an inspirational place for support and fellowship? You are invited to join the Friends of St. John, the Caregiver Support Group. We meet the second Tuesday (November 10th) of every month at 6pm in the Santiago Room of the parish hall to provide emotional, educational, and social support to family caregivers through the sharing of fellowship and faith. 2015 Mission Cooperative Appeal November 7th and 8th

The Missions Office at the Diocese of Orange has invited Rev. M. S. Selva Raj from the Diocese of Kumbakonam, India to share with us the needs of the people in their community. Sixty percent of their Catholics are depressingly poor. Our fervent prayers and generous help are earnestly requested for building the Kingdom of God, in and through the Diocese of Kumbakonam, India.

Advent Books The Advent Books (Little Blue Books) are here! They are going quickly and we have not even put them out after the Masses yet. We will be making them available after each Mass next weekend, November 14th and 15th. These books are very popular and

make a wonderful Christmas Gift. What a wonderful time to recognize Jesus in our lives. All of us have so much to be thankful for. The Little Blue Books, available in both English and Spanish, will be available as long as the supplies last.

Honoring Our Veterans Veteran’s Day November 11th

For all of the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces, those who are still on active duty, and those who have gone home to the Lord either while serving their country or after that service was over, we give you thanks. We want to honor our veterans with a special tribute. Inside the vestibule of the church, we have a bulletin board set up to showcase our veterans; living, deceased, and active duty. Please submit a small 2”x 2” photo to the Reception Office.

This year’s profit was $26,387.25. It was an unforgettable weekend of music, food,

games, entertainment, and prizes! THANK YOU!

Where Are Our Priests? Last Monday, Fr. Thomas got a call from the Philippines that his step-mother, Belinda Naval, passed away. He is in the Philippines for her funeral on Tuesday. Please keep Fr. Thomas and his family in your prayers. Fr. Greg will also be away from November 7th to the 11th. Assisting us in their absence are Fr. Silva, Fr. Gregory Dick, and visiting priest from India, Fr. Selva.

Santiago Meal Ministry Santiago’s Meal Ministry provides short term assistance to parishioners in need of meals due to illness or incapacity to cook. Please call Mary Ann at 949-770-3056. We are here for you.

Memory Loss Do you or a loved one have questions or concerns about memory loss issues? The

Interfaith Outreach Program through the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County provides public awareness, education and support to faith based communities regarding Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses. Educational information, emotional support and referral to free programs are available. For more information call Teresa at 949-701-5125.

Senior Activities All seniors ages 55 and over are welcome.

To help coordinate the event, please call Pearl at 949-770-4939 to assure the

number of seats available. November 17th: Lunch at Asian Buffet

On El Toro Road off Raymond Way. Meet there at 11am.

Lector Training Sunday, November 15th at 3:30pm in the church If you missed the Lector training last September, Fr. Thomas has set up this second training. Training is mandatory for all new Lectors, and also serves as a

good refresher course for existing Lectors.

South County Outreach Food Drive November 14th and 15th

Our monthly food drive to assist South County Outreach is held the second weekend of each month. If you are unable to bring your donation that weekend,

remember there are baskets in the parish hall that you can put your donations into during the week.

Mass with Anointing of the Sick Mass with Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated on the second Saturday (November 14) of every month during the 8am Mass. Come and experience the power of faith and the healing presence of God.

Recycling November 14th

from 7am to 12pm (Rain or Shine)

It’s that time again to gather up your recyclables for our monthly collection. For those of you who have not stopped to donate we welcome you and need your recyclables! Remember your donations help those who are in need. Please bring your aluminum cans, newspapers (all types of paper including junk mail and architectural drawings), books, magazines, glass jars and bottles, plastics (water bottles, milk bottles, etc.) You can also drop off any of these recyclables during the week. Just open the gate and leave them in the designated area at the end of the trailer. Look for the recycling sign.

Faith and Film Ministry The November 14th movie has been cancelled. We will resume showing movies in January. Please watch the bulletin for future showing dates.

Knights of Columbus Veteran’s Wheel Chair Drive

November 14th and 15th The Knights are having a Drive for

Veterans in need of wheel chairs. They will be collecting money for this specific purpose on the weekend of November 14th and 15th. Please be as generous as possible.

The legal body of authorities, the Pharisees, questioned the actions of the disciples picking grain on the Sabbath. “Why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” After asking them to recall the story of when David

and his companions were hungry and ate the temple bread, Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Urge OC Supervisors to Approve Kraemer Multi-Service Center for the Homeless

Kraemer location in Anaheim for the placement of a Multi-Service Center that will provide not only emergency beds but also coordinated assessment and a continuum of care for persons struggling with homelessness. An estimated 15,291 persons became homeless over a 12 month period this past year. Families with children represent 31% of this population. Veterans represent 12% of population in Orange County. Homenaje a nuestros Veteranos Día de los Veteranos 11 de noviembre 2015

Para todos los valientes hombres y mujeres que han servido en las fuerzas armadas, los que todavía están en servicio activo y aquellos que han partido, les agradecemos infinitamente por su esfuerzo y dedicación para con una nación entera. Como este es un día importante para nuestra nación, queremos recordar a nuestros veteranos con un homenaje especial. En el interior del atrio de la iglesia, tenemos un pizarrón creado para exhibir las fotos de nuestros veteranos bien sea los que aún nos acompañan, los que han partido de este mundo y los que aún están en servicio activo. Si desea ser partícipe de esta exhibición, favor de traer una foto de 2"x 2" a la oficina parroquial.

Sin duda nuestro festival fue un fin de semana inolvidable de música, comida, juegos,

¿Dónde están nuestros sacerdotes?

El lunes pasado, el Padre Thomas recibió una llama-da de las Filipinas informándole que su madrastra la Sra. Belinda Naval había fallecido. Por este motivo, él tuvo que viajar de emergencia a las Filipinas para asistir al funeral que se llevara a cabo el martes. Les pedimos oración por el Padre Thomas y su familia. Por otro lado el Padre Greg también estará ausente del 7 al 11 noviembre. Los sacerdotes Silva, Gregory Dick y el sacerdote de la India Selva Raj estarán asis-tiendo en la ausencia de nuestros sacerdotes.
