Guess who the new 2013-2014 Rio Bravo-Greeley president is? If you guessed Lorryn Carter, 8th grader, age 13 then you guessed correctly.

Carter ran for student coun-cil president because she likes to be a leader and wants everyone to enjoy school. She wants to incor-porate more school spirit.

She feels that there should not be school groups and wants everyone to come together. How will she do that? Carter will consider other students suggestions by talking to different groups of people. She would also take votes to make

students feel involved.

As president, Carter has to be organized, plan the dances, plan numerous ac-tivities, and decide on the budget. The student council discusses the budget at the meetings. They had to pay for the bullying conference

and Carter say they are already starting to plan the Gaucho Gallop.

Carter claims that very soon Mrs. Pelham won’t go to the meetings and she will have to run the meetings herself. The paper with all the de-tails will go to Pelham for final word.

Carter says that in her opinion the “no electronics” policy is unfair. She plans to soon suggest the idea to make electronics permit able, but makes no promis-es.

When it comes to the dress code, Carter says she doesn’t understand why the

Rio Bravo-Greeley’s new Treasurer feels a lot of pressure. That is because 7th grader Lanie Jackson is responsible for handling the school’s activity mon-ey.

When Jackson won she felt extremely happy because she won this year.

The reason Jackson ran for treasurer is because she wanted to take part in stu-dent council. she also

wanted to make things more interesting and fun by not doing the same things over and over again.

For example, Jackson hoped to be able to provide different refreshments for each dance the 7th or 8th graders have. She will also work to incorporate differ-ent playlists and decora-tions for every dance.

“This year I want to set a good and respectful exam-ple,” said Jackson, “By

turning in all of my home-work on time, having no missing assignments, and keeping a high GPA.”

Jackson promises to take student opinions into con-sideration when working with student council.

Jackson is an athletic, 13-year-old girl. She plays basketball for Liberty High School, has a brother and a dog.

She wants to make this year the best year for the 8th grad-ers because it is their last year. Karr wants new songs for the dances. “The songs are from the 1900’s,” she said. She feels more responsi-

Karr came to RBG in 2nd grade. She loves hanging out with her family and baking cakes.

Boyt has been at RBG for two years and want-ed to help the student council have a voice.

“This year, I really want to make this year great for everyone,” Boyt says.

“Secretary is actually a really big job. We have most of the work,” Boyt

says. “We have to take home a big binder, we have to fill out every-thing that goes on dur-ing student council meetings. It’s a hard job, but I’m really glad I’m able to do it.”

The new secretary for the 2013-2014 school is Paityn Boyt.

“I ran for student council because I really wanted to be able to do some-thing,” said Boyt. “Last year it was my first year and I had been running for things at my old school and I really want-ed to be a part of RBG.”

Guess who won Activities Director!

Morgan Gamboa did! Gamboa is 13 years-old, and is in the 8th grade.

Gamboa ran for activities director because it is her last year at RBG. She thought it would be fun, but admits that there are pressures. “I actually do feel pressure because people may expect a lot from me,” she said.

She has some things

that she wants to change, like the dress code, the dances, and she wants to have a fun activity for 6th graders. Gamboa hopes to have a Gender Bender Day sometime during Spirit Week.

The new Activities Direc-tor looks forward to tak-ing requests from other students, just as long as they are not inappropri-ate.

Gamboa has no other family members that have run before, but she has an older brother, Austin Gamboa, that graduated from RBG three years ago.

Gamboa wants to show the student body to work hard and to not let other people discourage you. She sees herself after collage in the medical field.

she always knows what’s best for the students and the school. “I’m also will-ing to give up my recess time to show my responsi-bility.” She has high expectations for her job this year, but none have to do with the dress code. Instead, she would like to see curtains

over the seventh grade. This was enough for Feli-cidario to beat his compe-tition, Rylee Henry.

All of Felicidario’s support comes from his encourag-ing family and his friends. “I just wanted to try something new,” Felicid-

ario says.

In his free time, you can find Felicidario mostly playing basketball and just hanging out with a few friends.

According to Rio Bravo Greely’s new seventh grade representative Marc Felicidario, “You can al-ways win as long you give it your all.”

Felicidario showed a great example of this by nailing his speech and winning
