BACKGROUNDMining in South Kalimantan. South Kalimantan is a province which rich in mining, one of
The mining is a diamond in residential mining in the district Cempaka Banjarbaru.Noise in the mining industry are all sound that can harm and disruptive for workers in the industrial area.
Industrial noise may because by engine operation and vehicle passes in the area
FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEMIs there a relationship of noise on health and safety at diamond miner in Diamond Mining People Sungai Tiung Cempaka Banjarbaru? ".
PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH1.Measuring noise in the working environment residental mining of diamonds cempaka Banjarbaru tiung river villages.2.Defining hearing problem in natural diamond mine workers.3.Analyzing the security standards against hearing problem due to noise in the workplace causing by the machine tools
BENEFIT OF THE RESEARCH1.Results of this research is one source of information about hazard risks that occur in the working environment in Banjarbaru Cempaka diamond mining. 2.Results of this study are expected to add insight into the science and the reading material for further research. 3.An experience for the author to make task and broaden the knowledge of hazard risks that occur in the working environment.

B. Discussion
Hearing problems that are connected with workers years of working at
mining diamond workers. workers were used as research subjects fit the
inclusion criteria as much as 25 respondents.
characteristics of respondents based on years of working as many as 13
respondents (52%) and longer working lives of as many as 12 respondents
(48%). This is because respondents are comfortable and do not feel the effect
or any impact on their health because they are already working on the young,
in addition to the house the workers are located around the mine site and get
used to the noise of the engine so that the workers there that working period
of more than 10 years and even 20 years.
Noise Measurement Results
The measurement results using the Sound Level Meter Mobile-Cassy 524-009
with a sampling of as many as 6 points in the mine pit.
From sampling at the points - which is shown in figure 5.3 above, obtained an
average value of 86.15 dB noise which is more than the NAV (> 85 dB).
Supposedly exposure time with workers who may be accepted only minutes
but in fact it is much different from where the exposure time with workers is
more than 8 hours in a day
Conclusion and Advice
Conclusion
1.Characteristics of respondents based on years of that period a new job as
much as 13 respondents (52%) and longer years of working as many as 12 (48%)
of respondents.
2.It is known that there are 19 out of 25 respondents (76%) respondents had
normal hearing.
3. Hearing disturbance due to noise is most commonly found sensorneurial
hearing loss is permanent and can not be cured. This Hearing problems can
occur after 3.5 to 20 years of exposure occurs, some say that after 10-15 years
after exposure.
Advice
We recommend that diamond mining and related parties of
cooperation for the provision of personal protective equipment such as
ear plugs to minimize the danger of hearing loss that arise and to
supervise routinely and periodically. So that hearing loss can be
prevented early on.
