A REPORT ON “Traditional Day – HARIVILLU” on 10-01-2020 (Friday)
SV Engineering College celebrated the Traditional Day to promote “Unity in diversity “which is
based on the concept where the individual or social differences in physical attributes, skin colour,
castes, creed, cultural and religious practices, etc. are not looked upon as a conflict. Rather, these
differences are looked upon as varieties that enrich the society and the nation as a whole.
Traditional Day was held on the 10th
of January 2020 at the college. It was an eventful day. It was
observed as a celebration of India’s diverse culture. It’s a day designated for people to come in
traditional attire from their home state, or specific culture of their choice.
The event Harivillu-2020 was inaugurated by the Chairman Mr. & Mrs. A.Gangi Reddy,
Principal Dr.T.Kalpalatha Reddy & Vice–Principal Dr.Ramasubba Reddy. The Chairman addressed
the gathering and explained the richness of Indian culture and traditions. Principal, Dr.T.Kalpalatha
Reddy gave a speech about the importance of traditional day and the reason to celebrate the
traditional day and Vice Principal Dr.Rama Subba Reddy gave motivational speech about the
significance of traditional day. The Convener of this Traditional Day event Dr.K.Suneetha Reddy
(HOD – S&H Department) gave a inspirational speech about the traditional day saying that - Indians
cherish traditions. It is a wisdom that is passed from generation to generation. Due to respect for the
traditions for many centuries, India managed to keep its unity, originality and identity.
Interested staff and students gave speeches on the importance of traditional day, importance of
Indian culture and traditions, etc. Different fun events like hopping, achangayalu, popcorn relay,
sixth sense, slow scooty race were conducted. Many students were participated in Rangoli which the
most important element of spiritual significance and colourful element. Rangoli is considered
auspicious during special occasions and religious ceremonies. It is said that with the vibrant colorful,
design and form, our life also will become vibrant and colourful. The other traditional events like
traditional toy making, handicrafts, salad making, pongal making, nail art, Mehandi, sonic sanity,
traditional dances, fashion parade and musical chairs were conducted for the students and staff.
The celebrations were followed by cultural programmes and students had a blast showing their
talents on the stage which included traditional fashion parade, dances and sonic sanity. Students were
completely in their high traditional competitive spirit. Their inner creativity and potentialities were
driven through these traditional competitions.
A unique traditional fashion show was conducted where handsome boys beauties from different
branches and years of UG & PG showcased their talent on ramp only in traditional Indian attires.
Mrs.Gangi Reddy and Principal Dr.T.Kalpalatha Reddy says that the glimpses of traditional
Indian attires are rare these days and youngsters prefer comfort and they imitate western outfits
however Indian attires make Indian boys and girls dignified.
The Convener said that on this traditional day - Harivillu students explored with their colourful and
unusual traditional dress with their glamorous contemporary styles that graces the occasion.
It was a great success and it definitely strengthened the bonds among the students and created respect
for ethnic and racial diversity in India. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks and
National Anthem of India.
