Survey MethodologyGlobal Data Source andValidation Techniques

The global salary survey information was voluntarily self-reported by a total of 1,166 Microsoft professionals spanning a wide range of job titles, industries, technologies and geographic locations from 83 countries.

In addition, we examined the actual salary and remuneration information from 1,929 permanent and freelance placements made by Nigel Frank between September 2017 and August 2018.

Each survey response has been validated using robust statistical analysis automated data validation rules in order to be included in the results set.

Any data profiles that do not pass our validation rules and statistical analysis, or are deemed questionable, incomplete, or duplicate, were removed in order to provide meaningful results.

Our internal teams have verified each Nigel Frank placement data point to ensure 100% accuracy with respect to base salary, bonuses, benefits, employer type, seniority, job title, technology and location.

No data has been artificially aged, nor have any results been extrapolated based on general inflation adjustments, or general wage increase trends. For the purpose of the survey, we will refer to all ‘data points’ as respondents.

Sentiments on gender diversityWe asked our survey respondents if there are any diversity issues they think should be discussed more widely in the IT/Microsoft field?

Male responses

“We need to find a way to encourage more young girls at primary school level even to engage with technology, and gain interest in technology as a career option.”

“I am male, but I feel that women are not treated with enough respect and consideration when they are in senior positions. Typically the industry defers to men, despite equally (or more) skilled women being available. I believe that needs to be fixed.”

“Young people need to be welcome into the workforce with the new eyes they have. EVERYTHING is changing and the old men have little to no understanding.”

Female responses

“If you want to diversify the workforce in IT, we have to start exposing kids. Underprivileged kids (who tend to be minorities) tend to not get technology exposure, and are an underrepresented population by the time they enter college.”

“Men get all promotions, from over 60 IT people in my location the females are just few (less than 5) and 0 in management positions in the whole IT department.”

“Valuing age and maturity— especially in women. I think younger people are more valued and offered progress; men in particular.”

Client Testimonials“THE TEAM HELPED US TO BETTER DEFINE WHAT WE NEEDED.”

Rupert MillsDirectorKrome Technologies

When Krome started looking for a Skype for Business consultant, it became obvious this would be challenging due to the shortage of Skype for Business candidates in our region.

From the very beginning, Nigel Frank stood out as an agency with the right specialist knowledge in the Microsoft UC space and access to the necessary pool of candidates that we weren’t seeing from other agencies. The team were very helpful and friendly.

MeetingZone are a leading conferencing and collaboration services provider offering personalised Unified Communications, Web and Audio Conferencing services.

Technology moves at such an incredibly fast pace within our sector, that finding technically proficient staff within tight deadlines can be difficult. We needed to recruit experienced Skype for Business specific professionals and therefore looked to external recruiters to assist us.

Nigel Frank’s capability as a specialist UC technologies recruiter was immediately apparent. They were very professional, understood our requirements and presented us with a number of relevant Skype for Business candidates in a short period of time. We employed three Skype for Business professionals through Nigel Frank.

“WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH HOW THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS WAS CARRIED OUT.”
