MONTH

This is a poem my great grandmotherwrote a long time ago. The members ofmy family really cherish it. For the oneswho knew her, it reminds them of her.For the ones who never met her, its aconnection they have to her.

During April vacation, as you spendtime with friends and family, ask them

about poetry in their lives. Ask themquestions like: have they ever writtenpoems? Do they have a favorite poem,a favorite poet or a favorite book ofpoems? Do they have any memorablepoetry assignments from school?

break and we will share them onMonday when we get back. It will be inpreparation for our next poetryassignment, which YOU will be incharge of creating!
