Pastor’s Point
Have you bungee jumped lately? Not your cup of tea! How about skydiving? Have you jumped out of a perfectly good air-plane for no apparent reason (my definition of skydiving)? Scuba diving? Tight-rope walking? Well, most of us do not engage in life-threatening activities on a regular basis, but we fail to realize there is risk in everything we do. For example, in the United States, the risk for being struck by lightening is 1 in 700,000. Comparatively, the risk of being in-jured by an exploding cell phone battery is 1 in 28 million. And, the risk of being in a car wreck is approximately 1 in 7000. So, there is risk in everything. Most of us do not even consider having our cell phone batter explode, so we talk and text away. We might factor in lightening when there is a storm, but in reality we drive our cars daily in spite of the risks. What about faith? Is there a risk to our faith? Webster de-fines risk as the possibility of loss or injury. Dictionary.com defines the verb “risk” as exposure to the chance of injury or loss, or haz-ard. Faith is always a risk. Jesus said in Matthew 10:29, “He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.” He also asked, “What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? NASRE We risk everyday, whether it is the drive to the grocery store, and the use of our cell phone. Why would we do any less for the sake of our Savior? Lack of faith is a greater risk because we forfeit all that God would do in our lives for His glory and our benefit. So, this year, I propose we take some risks, with our faith that is. Try stepping into the unknown of God’s will. Isn’t his prom-ise to never leave us or fail us (Hebrews 13:5)? So, take that step! Embark on the journey! Follow your Sav-ior! Serve in that ministry! Engage in some risky behavior of faith, and see if God does His work. What do we have to loose? The blessing of eternity is all!! Just a thought,
Rick

You have heard the
old saying, “Hey, Ya’ll
watch this!” If you have ,
then you know the proper
response is to RUN! These
are words you might hear
from someone that would
consider themselves a Red-
neck and proud of it.
If we are honest
with ourselves, we all have
a little redneck in us. If you
do not think that is true,
then when is the last time
you used duct tape for
something other than a
duct???? Or, when is the
last time you used a pocket
knife for a screwdriver.
We, as Rednecks, and yes I
include myself in that cate-
gory, tend to try and make
do with the things we have
at hand. We attempt to make
something work for that
which it was not intended.
I want to tell you
something today! We do not
have a Redneck Christiani-
ty! We cannot substitute
something else for Jesus
Christ. It does not natter
how much church we at-
tend, how many verses of
Just As I Am we sing, or
how many days in a row
that we read our Bible. It
does not matter how many
homeless we help or how
much money we put in the
offering plate. There is only
one fix for the sin in our
lives. Jesus! He said, “I am
the way, the truth, and the

Thrive Preteen Camp at Heart of Texas Camp is just around the corner. It is going to be a great week where we can lead students to a deeper understand-ing of Christ. We want to see not just students thrive in Christ, but our goal is that everyone who attends is touched by the gospel. One thing we have learned through the years of directing this camp is this task takes a monumental effort to complete. There are a few ways you can help, and we would love for you to take some time to serve alongside us during the week of camp. First, it would be great if you would join in prayer with us to prepare the fields for harvest. And second if you would like to volunteer some of your time to help run the camp this summer, we need people to help with Registration, Crafts, Recreation and general camp work. If you would be interested in helping contact Dustin or Rick.

Library News “I know why I am here and my only real focused goal is to live each day to the fullest and to try and honor
God and be an encouragement to others. What the future holds is firmly in God’s hands, and I am very
happy about that.”
Ken Hensley
There’s a popular western song that contains the lyrics “it’s all about me, me, me, me….” We understand that
thinking coming from an infant or toddler. Their world does revolve around themselves. But what about the
rest of us. In Genesis 1:26-28, God made us rulers over all the creatures of the earth and seas, but he intended
us to be good stewards of the same, and He intended for our focus to be not on the things of the earth, but on
Him. How do we go from feeling like we’re the center of the universe and we should have whatever it takes
to make us happy to the true reason for our existence—the pursuit of a relationship with God, and a desire to
put Him first.
Max Lucado, in his book, IT’S NOT ABOUT ME, puts our lives into proper perspective when he states,
“Reduce the human job description down to one phrase: Reflect God’s Glory.” If you have never read a Luca-
do book, this is a good one to start. His style of writing is entertaining and easy to understand, and you may
just find yourself less concerned with yourself and more focused on God.
