A nostalgic look at the 1940s when radio was our primary source of entertainment and informaon before TV became dominant in the 1950s. We experience the charming story via contemporary radio and music through the ears of one Queens family. Sweet and beauful, one of writer-director Woody Allen’s best films. It’s a funny, gentle comedy and much, much more. It’s delighully entertaining! You’ll love it! (Woody Allen, Orion, 1987, 85 minutes, close caponed).

LAUREL CARING CONGREGATION REPORT The Valennes were loved and much appreciated! Thanks to all who wrote Valenne cards, notes, sorted, bagged

and delivered the Valenne bags of love to our shut-ins. We delivered 42 bags and it was a joy to see the pleasure

of folks’ faces as they received your gis of love! Special thanks go to Karen Enger, Karen Barr, Jenny Piman,

Arlene Diberner, Joanna Hermes and the Here and Now Covenant Group. I could not have done this without your

help. It is a great pleasure and joy to be in this ministry WITH all of you! Carolyn Leach, Director of Congregaonal

Care.

PRAYER WARRIORS MINISTRY TEAM REPORT Each week you, as a Congregaon, give us your joys and concerns to pray over. These joys and concerns are shared at Staff meengs and we pray over them. The joys and concerns are also sent out to a Prayer Warrior Ministry Team – we have around 68 people who receive this email. This team reads and prays over all of the concerns. I oen hear from the team, so I know they are praying. Would you like to join this team? Please send me a wrien note ([email protected]) with your email address and I’ll add you to the team. Calling all who would be interested in going one step further with this prayer ministry. Would you be willing to meet

at the Church once a week with other prayer warriors and pray over these joys and concerns? As a ministry of the

Caring Ministry Team, I would like to have a group where their focus is prayer. Please let me know if you are feeling

called to this ministry, and I’ll see how we can get a group formed. Carolyn Leach, Director of Congregaonal Care.

Laurel's Lights would like to thank everyone who donated or pur-chased items for the Super Bowl Snack Sale. We raised $878 that will be donated for local acvies of the American Cancer Society and for Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge, sponsored by the American Can-cer Society, provides housing for cancer paents and their families who have to travel to St Louis for extended treatment. Families in Springfield have benefited from this service. Your generosity and connued support is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to my Laurel family for the wonderful gi bag full of valen-nes and treats. Such a surprise, delivered by Carolyn Leach on a cold snowy day.—Barbara Moss

Missions Giving: Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Lau-rel congregaon. Just under $1,800.00 was collected (and more connues to come in) for Helping Hands. The church purchased $1000.00 in gi cards from HyVee to cover meal supplies for when a scheduled meal-provider cancels. The gi cards have already been delivered to the shelter. The remaining balance will be disbursed to the shelter for use as needed for the facility’s expenses. Thanks be to God for such giving hearts.

TGIF Teens Gather in Faith LENT—not the stuff in your belly button!

Lent is a time of examining our life and returning to the “Christ Way.” Ash Wednesday emphasizes repentance. We receive ashes on Ash Wednesday, in the sign of the cross as a remind-er of the mercy and forgiveness proclaimed in the gospel and of our need to renew our faith. Spring cleaning for our hearts and souls. Which Disciple was most like a teenager? What?...God use me? We each have special talents. Putting these talents to work in God’s service honors Him. Honor God by being an instrument of His Love. Listen to God’s call ...and as you walk through your day find ways to answer. Each morn-ing offer your day to God. “Lord, come and live in my heart. Teach me to do no harm, to do good, and to love you and my neighbors. Help me today to be the answer to someone’s pray-er to show them a sign of your love in the world.” - by Thomas Everritt
