[D] PROFESSIONAL AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE

1992 to date: Chairman, Senior Lecturer, University of Nairobi, Department of Meteorology, Nairobi, Kenya. Previous positions include Lecturer (2001-2011), Tutorial Fellow (1994-2001), and Graduate Assistant (1992-1993).

Duties include research, teaching, administrative assignments, assessing students’ performance, supervising B.Sc., Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), M.Sc. and PhD research projects, dissertations and theses in dynamic meteorology, numerical weather prediction, climate prediction, tropical meteorology and related disciplines in the Department.

Courses taught include Dynamic Meteorology, Advanced Dynamic Meteorology, Boundary Layer Meteorology, General Circulation of the Atmosphere, Climate Dynamics, Climatology, Tropical Meteorology, Numerical Weather Prediction, Meteorological Instrumentation, Atmospheric Radiation and Optics, Research Methods, and related disciplines in the Department.

2007 to 2014: Offered scientific consultancy for the IGAD Climate Prediction and applications centre [ICPAC]. Duties included coordinating modelling activities for the dynamical component at the centre.
