16TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
July 21, 2019
We, the Catholic faithful of Yukon and the surrounding areas, comprise Seven Dolors Parish. We
have a rich immigrant ancestry and a diverse ethnic heritage where Christian charity prevails. We are
committed to the Eucharist, the Good News of Jesus Christ and all teachings of the Catholic Church. We
strive to minister to the needs of those we encounter on a daily basis by centering ourselves in worship,
participating in the sacramental life of the Church, and performing works of mercy. We seek to build-up the
Kingdom of God through stewardship and service under the guidance of our patroness, Mary, the Mother of God.

A MINDSET OF SERVICE
There’s a lot of traveling, delivering, and visiting going on in our readings today. In Genesis
Abraham cares for the needs of three mysterious travelers. The psalm responds, celebrating the
kind of righteousness that Abraham practices. Then, in his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul de-
scribes his own ministry as almost like a delivery service: he, God’s steward, brings the word of God
to their community. Finally, Luke’s Gospel shares the well-known story of Mary and Martha, and the
different ways they welcome Jesus into their home. Amid
all this coming and going, we are invited to pay attention
to the ways we tend to the needs of others. Each of us
can ask, How am I present to God and others in my life?
Save the Date! Seven Dolors Parish Picnic
Sunday, August 18, is the annual Seven Dolors Parish Picnic, following the 10:30 AM Mass. This is an wonderful oppor-tunity for us to gather as a parish and to enjoy good fellowship. More information to come in next week’s bulletin. Mark Sunday, August 18, on your calendar!
